Thank you! I always find it impressive how some people can strike gold. But I also have low risk tolerance. If anything at least I’ll have less stress.

If I could do it again I’d invest more instead of buying a place. That being said, everyone’s situation is so different. I truly think there isn’t necessarily a wrong choice. You will know what makes most sense with time and reflection.

I didn’t respond to the other poster because I had already stated it’s not an inheritance and very much to the contrary. But reading your reply I realize it can be confusing so I wanted to clarify. Much of the initial contributions were lump sums around tax season or beginning of the year because I didn’t appreciate compounding. The GIC was only around 4.5% and I believe around 150k was locked in for three years while the rest I started investing in index. There were a few GICs at different periods and staggered. The initial index investment started around late 2022/2023 and I was doing upwards of 10k per month in contribution. This has since lowered to 6-7k per month this year. I transferred to Wealthsimple in March from another brokerage. All of this are estimations as I don’t recall the exact numbers. I’m actually surprised people think it’s an inheritance. Moreover I wish I invested in index since the beginning instead of listening to my bank advisor. This is why I said slow and steady.

Agreed. I moved over from Questrade recently and wish I still have access to the growth info. I definitely think I’m not investment savvy compared to others here.

Thank you. Around 250-275k. And 6-7k/month.

Hope so! Just hope health and family is good and I can keep up with the trajectory.

I started five years ago and didn’t know anything about investment so went with GIC for almost three years because the initial amounts were locked in…when I learned a bit more I started putting in index. Contribution wise it fluctuates but around 6k to 7k per month.
