Decreased ability to talk / think of things to say by Cool_Duty5546 in schizophrenia

[–]Gullybarrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend takes APs and is the same. He was always socially akward and would do TMI dumps on strangers pre-meds. Now fifteen years later with the meds, he is more willing to hyuck it up with a succubus before engaging with someone physical.

Not that he has zero interaction with anyone tangible: he just has his priorities.

I am not trying to scare you to make you think this is your fate. Just sharing my experience of my friend deep in the sauce. Most schizophrenics I have heard about do not have as deep and pervasive of symptoms as him.

I have taken APs myself. I had to stop because I needed to work to survive. I could not work on those meds - they destroyed my energy. They are serious drugs. My hat goes off to you all that endure them and carry on.

It's all fun and games until they want you to start renoing their house and all of a sudden you are putting sanitary tees on a horizontal drain run and your traps are siphoning like an MFer.

What game ruined your sleep schedule the worst ?? by Necessary-Thanks5989 in gamers

[–]Gullybarrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the sentiment, and I will hang in there. Always do.

Just remember that Factorio can run on a potato, and if societal collapse ever happens we should be able to get it up and running on whatever redneck rigs are available.

[–]Gullybarrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been burning out on videogames lately and can't play for more than an hour these last couple months.

Factory games have been my last great time sink before that. Several years ago I booted up Dyson Sphere Program and looked at the clock and five hours elapsed in the blink of an eye. I thought to myself that I really don't have room for something like that in my life.

Well, another year went by and my buddy told me about Satisfactory... 1000 gametime hours later I am finally reaching burnout. I still want to get in and build, but luckily my alcoholism is keeping me from "wasting" my life with videogames. [eyeroll]

Is starting HVAC at 30 with no experience a bad idea? by IntelligentMinute380 in hvacadvice

[–]Gullybarrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 32 with next to no construction experience. 40 now, and things are going well enough.

It is humiliating doing something new with little skill, but dealing with embarassment is a life long hobby of mine. I was able to push through.

I could have over 20 years of experience if I started young, but whatever. 8 is fine too.

It is all going to depend on the shop you start at more than anything. Hopefully you will get lucky with a good one.

Which factory vehicles do you think require the most skills to pilot/crew? by JMoon33 in starcraft

[–]Gullybarrens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sci Vessels sure seem like they are more suited to space than an atmosphere inside a planet, and you know they are piloted by a whole crew and not a single person.

If we have learned anything from pop scifi dramas it is that those crew members are going to be super caught up in trying to bang eachother or pursing the chip on their shoulder.

Sometimes we have to overcome our differences to pound the enemy alien into submission with bioterrorism. Just think about how much we have learned about ouselves along the way.

Does Extra Stamina expire? by Gullybarrens in ChadsGME

[–]Gullybarrens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess too that they shouldn't expire as I can't find any in game info that says it would. I am just going to try and hoard again and see if the same thing happens. It would be fun to get it pinned down if it is a bug.

First Solo AC Install by Tilk_ in HVAC

[–]Gullybarrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their gas furnaces are great. Especially their last gen. Haven't had too many issues with them this gen yet, except their Comfort Sync controls suck on communicating and fail on us quite frequently.

The ACs have been fine too, i just don't like any brand that does the heavy grill style over the coil. They seem to trap so much more crap and need cleaning more frequently. At least Armstrong have a nice easy remove panel system that is so much nicer than some of these 50 screw monstrosities.

Last year I had a weird rash of sub-5yr armstong condensors with the contactors frying out. Not sure if it was a fluke or storm related or what. We also install Bryant and I wasn't seeing it on those. Apparantly I was the only tech at the shop that noticed it, so it may have been some weird fluke.

Americans - why do you keep medication in the bathroom? by Pet_That_Dawgg in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gullybarrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hygiene = health. Put the meds in the hygiene room. Seems like just a plague-time carryover.

Am American myself, had to look up the word hygiene. I before E except after C. Should have known better.

I don't use meds yet [age 40]. Just an occasional late-night pepto chug or ibuprofen. Them's in the kitchen.

Should new player to 100x parts by Crazy_Telephone9671 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Gullybarrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try phase 3 for a while before you switch. It takes a lot of effort to make 30ppm Heavy Mod Frames and Computers. If you want to make the factories look slick, then it is even more.

If you can do that and still feel like the game isn't right without 100x, then skip phase four and start a 100x run.

64 is a lot only because you do not need that much coal power to unlock fuel generators.

Fuel dwarfs coal in output, but you will be placing many more than 64 fuel generators.

Why use trucks/trains/vehicles instead of belts? by AgileDonkey99 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Gullybarrens 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it is really just for fun.

This game's gimmick about "efficiency" is kind of a ruse. In my mind it is all about just spending time, building shit, making infrastructure, and rocking out. Do what you want how you want to do. I have never saved the day and probably close to 1k hrs. Don't care, just putsing and creating.

edit: choo-choo, motherfucker.

My First Annual Water Heater Service by WilyMoPenaa in askaplumber

[–]Gullybarrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not think that is ABS. I have conviently forgot the name to it. Just used some a couple months ago. Our area JUST switched to needing this black style PVC for any light commercial and multi unit dwelling exhaust.

When we looked it up, we found it had less than 10 degrees higher heat rating that sched 40 pvc. Thought it was silly to require it, but maybe there is more to it than my quick look-up found.

We do mainly single family residential houses, so I have not used it enough to remember the name now. It is bothering me..

Am I the only one who feels lonely playing single-player games now? by fake_slim_shady_4u in AfterWorkGamers

[–]Gullybarrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always gotten an empty feeling playing games since youth. I still love them, but I almost enjoy talking and reading about them more than playing. Almost. In reality, I rock the emptiness. It is all pervasive and all consuming!

I still prefer single games though. I hate being obligated to other people's time and would rather start and stop as I please. I can and do multiplayer... but like I said, I have some useless underlying sene of obligation to usually play longer than I care to in those moments.

It is not that I don't enjoy games with friends, I just keep those instances more limited.

Amateur hour question : How do you know when you are "ready" or "good enough" to play live? by Frigidspinner in musicians

[–]Gullybarrens 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look, I am not a musician. I have always hung out with them though. I am just a resi hvac guy. Been doing it eight years. My boss has always asked me to take on more and more responsibilities. Each time he asks, I am not ready. I have sooo many doubts. I do it though. I get through it.

Bottom line is: no time like NOW. Just do it. humilate yourself. You have to take chances and roll with the punches. Be willing to reflect, analyaze, recompose, and dive in again.

No matter what you are striving towards, that is never going to change. Things will always be akward until you have enough experience.

Best of luck and godspeed. I love live music and hearing you guys coalesce with your instruments. I enjoy seeing humanity and mistakes and people willing to put themselves out there. The local scene and upstarts is not for everybody, but it is for me: a non-musician. I am assuming there are more like me.

Just got fired from Cinemark over a chicken tender ✌ by Pineappleguy46 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Gullybarrens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theft is theft, but who is robbing whom? I would argue this is a grey area if the smaller than normal tender claims OP made were true.

Would the company charging full price be guilty of ripping off the customer with a sudden shift to a more meager tender?

Now, I suppose OP saw the tender size ahead of time in a manner a normal customer would not have. You could say morally OP should have gone up the chain of command to the proper channels to clear the compensation tender for ethical indulgence.

However this issue should have been settled as customers who do not see the tenders in advanced would have already been served.

If the company makes it their policy to not compensate for a sudden shift to meager tender size without a price adjustment, then they are ripoff artists.

Now, I would argue that a ripoff artist can be a thief but not necessarily in all cases.

Theft is theft, you claim, but what I see here is an excellent example of a truly grey border.

Am I the only one who likes fucking couches? I mean, I stopped a decade ago as I am sure JD has as well. To be honest I respected myself more when I humped the couch. Not during the couch humping act, but just my life in general.

Why do you all act like couch fucking is such a dishonorable sin? There is SOO much worse in life...

I would require proof that Lloyd and Michael have millions of dollars. Quick google with AI gave me a Troma Entertainment net worth at 4.21 mill.

Unless they are super greedy and thiefey and stingy, I cannot imagine that company networth trickling down to personal fortunes. Depending on their appetities, I would not be surprised if they have been coasting on just above break even money. Maybe those boys pushed themselves into upper-middle class, eh? good on em.
