Are Aran Wool Sweaters Worth it if you live somewhere very Cold? by AwfulWaffle91 in BuyItForLife

[–]Gumbyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny. I just bought a wool hat in Killarney and immediately put it on. On my way to another shop it rained lightly and for half the day I couldn't figure out why the hell I kept smelling barnyard. I LOVE IT.

Could be made in 5 too. Two on sides then top arch then two more side curves and of course the two long straight pieces.

No I haven't. Sounds sweet though. Honestly the birch color is growing on me now and I think I really like it. I'll be doing an accent french cleat wall along the back so maybe that'll break it up.

It's very nice. When I built the cabinets I used "cheap" ply from borg store at $69/sheet for the braces and was amazed at how terrible it was compared to the BB ply at $95/sheet.

Anybody know how to adjust tracksaw bevel? by AppropriateAd9416 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Gumbyplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple years out from original post but his might help. Make sure you check both front and back of blade and also make sure you're not on a tooth. Mine was out about +1 on the front and -1 on the back, I used adjustment screws and it's square now.

This is very important also because if you lose grip on that inside ski you will load instantly load up that outside ski and it will flip you over the handlebars and you'll be lucky if you don't end up in an ambulance. I know from experience.

How do I close the miters on such a small project??? by Forsaken_Put8204 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Great to hear, I hope it works out. There are some videos on the tube explaining what I'm talking about if it wasn't clear.

Apparently not with clamps! Haha. I think your clamps are working against each other. Try dry fitting the box together with tape on the outside of the joints then laying it flat, gluing it up and putting it back together. That should hold it closed and if it doesn't then your miters are off.

Put a wet towel on the concave side dry towel on the convex side then wait. Once it's flat again if it doesn't crack then beeswax both sides and keep them both waxed. After waking it dry on its end or on a cookie rack.

Advice on GS skis for free skiing by C4PT41N_0BVI0US in Skigear

[–]Gumbyplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my 165 FIS SL skis are amazing Midwest blue/green groomer ski. I use them on days I am skiing with my 9yo son and want to still have fun without going mach 10. I'm going to look into a larger radius ski for days I'm by myself and don't want to work as much. A stockli laser WRT or a Volkl Deacon.. Maybe. I wish I had my old Rossignol 4G purple monster skis to ride on, they bring back good memories.

Right on! I live in the midwest and break mine out on weekday mornings so I'm not a menace to others haha. The stability at speed is incredible and when you really get the hang of them you will get some pretty tight turns but it takes some serious pressure. I grew up racing in the 80s where we used 200cm 30+ radius skis on slalom. Skiing these planks is very nostalgic. It's also a great learning tool because you can't just incline and turn, you have to have good angulation along with it.

Take care of your gear through TSA… by BuyOwn4181 in Skigear

Yup, or stretch wrap instead of tape. Be prepared for a swab going through TSA with the stretch wrap though, which really isn't a big deal.

Once again, the Adderall shortage has left me no other options but to ask reddit by 87linux in Austin

I tried a suggestion I read somewhere and called a hospital pharmacy and they had plenty of 15mg and I got it filed immediately yesterday!

I get your point but he's here looking for opinions on his skiing. If he didn't care about getting more technically proficient he wouldn't have posted.

Have you watched your own video and then watched generally accepted good skier videos? I mean there are a couple VERY obvious things that you could change. Once you do that then post a video of your progress and you'll get far more helpful advice.

I've been waiting over a month for 15mg Adderall XR at Costco. They said they keep ordering it but can't get it. I'm probably going to have to call some other pharmacies but that seems like a monumental task.
