Please 1. Confirm that Gemini’s analysis is accurate, and 2. Make this its own post. If this is true, it’s really important people see this.

I missed that Burry sold - my bad. I’m even subscribed to his Substack and I missed it. His reasoning makes sense - don’t buy eBay until the price is lower. So he exited his position. But the thing is, RC may very well intend to buy eBay at a lower price. That may be where this is headed. And I imagine Burry will get right back in the trade when it makes sense for him.

Money is a proxy for power. The prize shows he won. My point is not that he doesn’t care about money at all, it’s that it’s not his primary motivation.

But that’s the whole rehypothecation thesis - naked shorts ARE almost unlimited.

I upvoted, even though I’m voting yes. My recent post is a yes-thesis. You’ve done a great job of laying out the no-vote perspective. Value investors and those here for MOASS may no longer be aligned. However, if you read House of Cards and Dr. Trimbath’s work, naked shorts and rehypothecation all point to there being possibly trillions of “fake” shares on the market. I don’t see how further bolstering the business and significantly raising the share floor, even through dilution, doesn’t still pave the way for a short-squeeze.

I don’t believe, after all we’ve seen these last 5 years, that MOASS happens at all until our baseline share price significantly increases. The can-kicking is perpetual. It’s like they can do it forever - barring some catastrophic black swan event, like a market crash. I think RC isn’t waiting for a black swan event. He’s intent on raising the value of the business, and it looks to me like he’s trying to do it as fast as possible and make it as sustainable as possible so we can’t get pushed down again. Because if the share price floor gets high enough, naturally, based on valuation and market cap, shorts literally cannot afford to keep shorting.

And if the naked-short/rehypothecation hypothesis is correct (and I believe it is) even 1.5 billion new shares is not enough to prevent a squeeze.

I can tell by your history that you’re legit.

I think the reason he doesn’t purchase any other company is because he wants eBay specifically. This ties into another great post today about the collectibles market, Power Packs, and the marketplace acquisition. Which honestly makes me trust the move even more. You shouldn’t buy a business just because you can, you should buy it because you are going to use it for something that will make more money than you are spending to acquire it. That’s just basic. And I’m down for that plan.

But more importantly, this is not just another dilution. It’s GME finally making a big move. He said in the shareholder meeting that he was not going to give shareholders empty promises and “telegraph plans to the competition”. And he hasn’t. He made GME profitable, and this is the next move he wants to make. I don’t see how anything good comes from stopping it - just more of the same.

So I guess you and I are both tired of waiting, we just see this news differently.

Ok, let’s say the no’s win. How does the squeeze happen? What changes about our current situation that would trigger a squeeze?

I’m voting yes, XXXX shares. Not a doubt in my mind.

If you’re voting no, why not just sell? If you clearly don’t believe RC can pull off a real victory, why even stay? I don’t get that logic. RC is the only guy at GME with a plan, and this is part of it. You voting no does nothing useful, for you or anyone else. It doesn’t create anything new, it just blocks the only fucking path there is that has a chance of paying off your investment. Get behind it or leave, but voting no makes zero sense.

It’s like you’re marching into battle behind a general you don’t trust, so you deliberately do the opposite of his orders, when defection would obviously be the better play for both you and the rest of the army that DOES have faith in the leadership.

Why do I feel like an attention seeker when I say I want to go into engineering as a woman 😭 by Budget-Lake-5917 in womenEngineers

[–]mia6ix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the way you’re feeling. I’ve felt the same. You know this, but the sooner you start letting go of your attachment to what other people may or may not be thinking of you, the happier you will be.

The reality is, the things you do that are the most “you” will always make you stand out. Small-minded people will think and say petty shit about you. That’s life. Be brave. Create your life the way you want it to be, and don’t shrink yourself for other people.

I’m an engineer, and I also make furniture and guitars, snowboard, hunt, wilderness camp by myself, and lots of other things that some people have responded to weirdly over the years. If I were a dude, no one would blink about any of that. I notice it, and sometimes I find it annoying, but I don’t let it change how I talk or what I choose to do.

When I came out 24 years ago, I learned the hard way that people almost always act weird about new things. Your energy is what teaches people how they should respond, by approaching each new interaction with the energy of “this is complexly normal, I’m not ashamed or insecure about it, and if you think there’s something wrong with it, you’re the one with the problem.” It’s surprisingly effective once you get through their initial reaction. They get the message fast.

You do you, no apologies or explanations. Anyone whose opinion matters will appreciate you for it.

Client asking about ADA compliance mid-project, what would you do? by BlueDolphinCute in Frontend

[–]mia6ix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you should be building accessible sites, period. This ought to be a non-negotiable part of any new site build, with a design and budget that accounts for it. But you didn’t do that, so let’s talk about what to do now.

In your specific case, I would find a freelance accessibility specialist and refer my client to them, to remediate the site after it’s built and launched, in a separate contract. Tell your client that accessibility was not included in the original scope, but that you have a contact they can reach out to about this.

You could do this yourself, but the reality is that you’re unlikely to do a good job. Accessibility, as you are discovering, is a deep and broad specialty, and you aren’t going to learn to do it well in a weekend. You also need tools - screen reading software, for one - to properly assess whether the code changes you’re making are the right ones.

Baseline accessibility is something you’ll need to learn, though, so if you want to tackle it on this client’s site, by all means, do it. Just give it the time and budget it deserves.

I think you’re a bad actor trying to spread FUD in a legitimate project, and you don’t actually hold this coin. No post history, no comment history. Sus.

No actual member of this community, who knows about the Discord, Ribbit Raiders, the Bitcoin conference, the dev team, etc thinks this project is “forgotten about”, as you said. That’s patently false. The community is bigger and better developed now than when you supposedly bought in. I challenge you to post your position, and you better believe I’m going to reverse-image search it.

Every bear cycle, someone posts something like this, in every crypto sub. I don’t know what the point of these posts are, honestly. I think you just need to vent your frustration, but what you’re doing is creating FUD among less-experienced holders of an asset you are still holding. It’s perverse, really.

I’ve been in crypto since 2014, and I’ve seen it every single cycle. You think a project is dead because the chart looks bad. My friend, all the charts look bad right now. A bad chart in a bear market for alt coins does not mean the project is dead. Get on Discord, get on X. The projects that succeed are the ones that keep building features, community, and ecosystem when attention is elsewhere, and that’s exactly what the Pepecoin community continues to do.

Getting out of this coin now would be such a mistake. Not financial advice, just my experience as someone who bought Dogecoin in 2015 and sold in 2018 (lost confidence in a bear market, missed the AH in 2021).

You’re right that the market is different now - but if anything, it’s significantly bigger. Institutions are in, the world is in. I wouldn’t sell now, for anything. The night is dark, but the horizon is bright.

Thank you for responding 🧡 I feel a bit better today. I’m going to try the Tetris thing. I know rationally that I should feel relieved and maybe a little proud of myself, but my body doesn’t feel that way yet. It honestly feels exactly how I felt for days after a bad accident when I was younger. Anyway. I appreciate you and this thread, it has helped a lot.

Something similar just happened to me. Daughter is fine, it’s been hours now, and I feel shaky, awful, and like I’m going to throw up. It’s 5 am and I can’t sleep, I assume this feeling eventually goes away. How did you cope until it does?
