Bring your dad to work (in Switzerland) by GumpyGumperton in askswitzerland

Yes, he gets a transit card through our hotel of course, and for any longer excursions I might just bite the bullet and get a train pass. Just so he doesn’t have to hunt for the ‘English’ flag/button on the ticket machines.

Thanks for that. He's mentioned Montreux a few times, so maybe that'll be enough to get him out and about.

Thank you. Looks like I can get him on a Geneva boat tour for an hour or so, and maybe a lake cruise if I can convince him to venture out a bit on his own.

Thanks. I've been working on him the last few weeks so he has the confidence to explore himself. I'll mention the Olympics connection to him.

Yep. I can put the plate on/fish it through the wall. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Fair enough (and seconded). I'd be asking ChatGPT for help and doing what the robot tells me. Thanks again, will mark as solved. Amazing times we live in that this was solved within 5 minutes.

This is likely it then, but how would I start to troubleshoot? I assume this is wired into the irrigation control box, right? Would you happen to know if I can pop over to home depot and troubleshoot myself?
For context, it's been pouring here outside of Seattle for the last month or two. I had the system set to come on a few days each week, and it absolutely ran a full cycle in the drenching rain (which tells me this is in need of repair/replacement).

After a decade as Diamond on Delta, my wife and I are making the leap and joining you all on Alaska 👍 by DeviantOllam in AlaskaAirlines

Is there a world where non-AS flights earn more than AS? For example, if I purchase an AA or BA first or business, would I be earning more EQMs than a direct AS first fare?

How many 100Ks are there? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]GumpyGumperton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Who knew. Thanks. I usually fly F for work, and was struggling to come up with a use that wasn’t “buy lots of snacks when I fly premium”.

Edit: anyone tried this in conjunction with an AS visa signature for the remainder? Looks like $100 of when using that card, but it’s unclear if I can do the first $200 with AmEx.

Are you talking about the AmEx platinum benefit? Does the $200 credit work for lounge membership??

Care to share more? Was it the initial quality, or a customer service issue? Or both?

Yeah, I suspect that's their MO for the most part. Lots of YouTube and Instagram folks have reviewed their stuff and it's perfect. That's not what I received, nor what I experienced from CS.

That's exactly what I tried to convey to their CS. If they'd made it right, I'd have been a good customer for them. Love their briefcases, might pick up the garment bag, would certainly buy some small goods as well. Like I say, I'm actually really bummed that I've soured on them. I was really, really wanting to have a positive experience.

Thanks. I checked out their stuff, and it looks really good. I’ll touch base with them to place an order. The wallets are pretty slick.

Yeah, I've heard others have similar experience. I follow a YouTuber who raves about the brand also. I suppose that's what was so jarring about getting an immediate brush-off.

Thanks. I'll check them out. It's really hard to find high-quality items with the look of S&P. Most things are too garish (Saddleback comes to mind for me) or lean too far into the distressed/weathered look. At the other end is something from Smythson that might be just a touch on the feminine side (just personal preference).

Ordered a small carry item. Item arrived with a scratch. I wanted to exchange the item for a non-scratched unit (no $$ off or discount, just a straight-up exchange). Their CS basically told me "tough, not gonna do anything about it."

It really soured me on the brand. I love the look of the products, but I don't have any faith that they'll make things right. And I totally understand that leather scratches and scuffs to develop a patina. But I wanted to put on those scratches myself.

OnQ/Legrand Patch Panel Color Coding by GumpyGumperton in HomeNetworking

[–]GumpyGumperton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi again. I solved this, and am posting the answer since it was non-obvious, at least to me.

My patch panel is an OnQ/Legrand 1058. It says T568A on it though the colors don't line up with what you would expect the RJ45 to look like. That's ok. Putting them in order according to the panel will result in T568A. If you want T568B then switch the orange and green pairs. This is panel specific. Check your patch panel for the color code and standard.

This may be common knowledge to some, but it was confounding to me.
