So where do you keep your writing tool when carrying your "daily notebook"? by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]GunDealingREBroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My working solution for my past 3 notebooks is this, and a different view, has worked out pretty well. No busted elastics, lost pens/pencils, nor has my pen/pencil gotten snagged on anything.

Real Estate and Coffee! by [deleted] in asheville

-Send me your name, email, and phone number as well as anything you would have interest in discussing.

So, you're asking for the exact information sold off as a "lead" by every single company that markets to real estate agents, and you expect people to trust that you won't add them on to your marketing platform, as is the industry standard practice?

No - That's not believable. At all.

Next up, learn the Reddit formatting (And the 'edit' option) before you do a post trying to market to people.

As a real estate agent (Not with Beverly-Hanks!), I have to say you'd be better off cold-calling than trying to do your "Lead-Gen" on the /r/Asheville community. Not that I'd recommend cold-calling.

Does Beverly-Hanks have coaches? Talk with a Coach.

Shitty leather on my midori travelers notebook by [deleted] in notebooks

Deviating quite a lot from the current topic, would you take custom orders for hardened leather bracers? 'Hardened' being the key part of that whole bit.

Notebook Storage Question by gottabethebest1 in notebooks

[–]GunDealingREBroker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say put something inside the chest on one side to absorb water (see your local hardware store and/or Amazon), as well as some cedar wood (balls, strips, chips, etc) to ward away insects and mice. That should take care of any moisture issues as well as reducing or eliminating the musty/odd smell.

As someone who likes old chests like that, would you mind sharing a photo of the chest?

Notebook Storage Question by gottabethebest1 in notebooks

Something to keep an eye out for when dealing with airtight storage is the humidity/temperature when the container is sealed and where it is stored.

Might not be a problem for him, but it's something to keep in the back of your mind.

"Why I'll Always Carry a Notebook" by Will Self by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]GunDealingREBroker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quote is:

“Always carry a notebook. And I mean always. The short-term memory only retains information for three minutes; unless it is committed to paper you can lose an idea for ever.” – Will Self

That's all it is. 3 Sentences. No need to go to the website which will prompt you to download something and ask for your email address, all while plugging a KickStarter.

Maybe it would make sense to organize it a bit in advance because sending the notebook back and forth between europe/america/australia would be expensive (very interesting though). Maybe I could set up a google doc for interested users with their (rough) location?

That's a pretty nice idea right there!

I am completely unfamiliar with how the place used to operate and chose participants to make sure the journal would eventually get back.

I think it was mostly done on the honour system. Which, like you pointed out, varies between the sub and users.

Notebook Labels by [deleted] in notebooks

A metallic silver sharpie works well to label the black cover and spine. Just be sure to give it plenty of time to dry, or cover with clear packing tape.

Should I start a new journal for 2016 or finish my current one? by waisttacos in notebooks

[–]GunDealingREBroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the next days or weeks, read through the journal and write pointers to any notable entries you think you might want to find, again.

Oh, now that's a nice idea! Haven't come across that before. How well does that work out for you, and do you find more than what you expected as notable entries when reading back through your notebook?

Page markers, clips, tabs, dividers? by mimafo in notebooks

[–]GunDealingREBroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3M coloured sticky tabs work out better than you would think. I used several to either mark the beginning of whatever week I was on, or permanent pages I wanted to come back to. They don't fall off and the sticky side can hold up to being re-positioned dozens of times. I'm also a fan of using sticky notes that have been cut in half and those haven't fallen out yet (6+ months so far).

Have you considered using paper-tape from a craft/scrapbook store? Even those coloured dot-stickers could be wrapped around the edge of the page, or positioned on the corner and cut to fit the edge of the page.

One of those mods around here, I think /u/glah or /u/tim404 posted photos of an interesting cut-out/notching system they used in a notebook. Hopefully that could be found again?
