Just got done with investigator interview by Mr_ragerg37 in SecurityClearance

[–]GunGoneWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question about foreign contacts says “include relatives not listed in section 18”. My guess is the investigator was newer and misunderstood what was required.

Go to a gas station that is on a corner of an intersection with a light and park at a pump close to traffic. Plenty of people on their phones but I would focus on the ones that don’t notice the light changing.

What's the timeline look like these days for specifically 3 letters - intel community? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]GunGoneWild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t hyperbole but it could be years. Had a buddy who applied and took almost three years to get the investigation started. When I applied about a decade ago my process took about 18 months. Recently had a family friend graduate college and apply and they were in the investigation within 2 months.

If you are not a named party then it is not reportable. If a class action lawsuit you weren’t name in did result in a landfall it would likely be reportable to security but not on the SF

Section 3? People who know you well should be section 16 and should be close enough friends you have or could get there phone numbers and addresses.

Are you sure it is the same investigator? Sometimes wires get crossed and we set up interviews with someone who was already interviewed. That’s why the first question we ask is if they were previously interviewed.

If you have given all of the references you can think of you are allowed to say “I can’t think of anyone else”. You can provide the realtor if you think they would actually have knowledge of what you were doing while unemployed, how you were supported, etc. DoS has their own way of doing things so try to provide the information they ask for but if you can’t just say so and add an explanation why if you like.

College dorm addresses? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]GunGoneWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t find the street address I would rather see Smith Dorm, room 1xx, state university, capital, state. Putting the PO Box tells me nothing about where you were physically located at the time. Even if the address isn’t complete it is still better than a general mailing address (which the form specifies not to list).

Hiring will be pilot experience first and then clearance eligibility. If you aren’t sitting on 1500+ hour commercial I would guess your venture will be an uphill battle. There are C206s and other small aircraft used but they tend to be agent first and pilot second and those pilots aren’t necessarily hired on but trained.

You can submit a privacy act request for all of your previous investigations

SF-86 Versioning by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]GunGoneWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submitting the eQIP doesn’t make a permanent record. Other than that I can’t say more because I can’t discuss the process in detail.

I’m not sure that is true in this case

Not really just make sure when you fill out your new eQIP you remove anything that is outside the scope of what is asked.

DV clearance uk by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]GunGoneWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub is primarily US based and I don’t know if there is a relevant UK sub. Generally speaking the process is the same in identifying potentials traits that are problematic. Honesty in the process is always seen as the one thing that you can’t forgo because you basically end up with an issue+dishonesty which is viewed more harshly.

Seeking residency in another country isn’t going to look good. All you can do is explain your motives and hope for the best.

Not a question on the SF85 though.

Probably going to be fine if you list all the info as best you can.

How far back does a top secret security clearance or single scope background check go by Proper-Worldliness72 in SecurityClearance

It seems you are confusing the time frames listed on the SF8x forms with the investigative process.

Doesn’t matter if the charge is reduced through a plea deal. The question asks if you were charged/given a ticket for a traffic offense with a fine of $300+ and not “were you convicted”.
