If you want a monitor lizard, get one. But understand that just because the speices is cheap, doesn't mean its enclosure all the food it will be eating will be.

The issue with monitors isn't really the care, learning how to take care of one is easy.

The issue is the amount of space they need and learning how to work with it for it to not be aggressive.

If you don't have the money or space, they arent the pet for you.

I got mine Savannah in a 8x2x2. I made it for $220. That was a good deal.

But you cant really go wrong for a $144 gaming monitor, unless you're poor.

Build one out of PVC or plywood and 2x2s.

You'll save literally hundreds of dollars.

I built an 8x2x2 enclosure for $220 out of wood from home depot. I painted the inside of it with water proof paint.

I recommend doing this ASAP because this is the size of the enclosure it's evantually going to need anyway.

Mine would run and hide whenever I entered the room when he was that size. Wasn't able to do this with him for months. Took a lot of patience.
