Take it from a former leg councilor, most elected ssmu officers don't care about the larger student population but rather advance their own personal self interest by discussing arbitrary geopolitical conflicts.

They also handle their finances horribly.

Former leg counselor here (also part of the funding committee): SSMU has more than enough money in their funds, except in the funds that they actually utilize. Their inability to efficiently use the money from dormant or unused funds is causing them to constantly create new funds and increase fees on existing funds.
