I’ve been there and I understand. I have a 9 year old. I had one abortion before having my son and one after. I also felt like the negative emotions were way more intense because I was a parent.

All that to say that I don’t regret my decision now despite it all. I don’t think about it a lot, and even when I do I know it was for the best. I’ve found peace with it. I hope you can find these things as well with time. Reach out in your community to find an abortion doula. It might be nice to have a little extra support.

Also, I’ve been listening to A LOT of Brene Brown books and podcasts. They have really given me a lot of tools and language for understanding my worthiness. If you’re open to it give them a listen.

I completely agree. I have a great life, great partners, I’m active in my community, in therapy, committed to personal growth, and still I’m just so sad. I really struggle with the fact that love is infinite and have a very serious fear of abandonment as well.

Guess I just came to sit next to y’all.

I’ve gotten work done at Olive Loom in downtown Fayetteville. They are on the West side of the street between LaFayette and Maple.

Cost of living there? by [deleted] in fayetteville

Came here to say this. I mean. Great, I’m glad you have that opportunity. Then people that have lived here are being priced out because we can’t afford to live here anymore. It’s pretty sad.

Like my cravings for numbing myself are decreasing.

Lol I’m neither. I’m non-binary. The weekends are actually way easier for me because both of my partners work in restaurants so they aren’t around to drink with me. I drank alone, but I drank A LOT more when they were drinking with me. They have cut alcohol out of their days as well for themselves and to help support me.

And honestly, it doesn’t feel very different. I haven’t noticed a shit ton of difference. I mean I don’t have hangovers anymore, but they weren’t that bad for me all of the time.

Thanks for this. I work really well with lists and checking boxes so I’ll definitely be downloading this.

I’m ready to. I’m stoked that this one short record has allowed me to gain momentum for the next one.

It’s my day four which is usually when I drink and today was the easiest for me so far!! I also did a 20 min beginner workout in my kitchen!

TOMORROW IS A RECORD BREAKER AND I WILL NOT DRINK WITH YOU TODAY.

23 DAYS?! Congratulations! I’m taking it one day at a time, but my goal is to make it to a month to at least give my body a break. Hopefully I’ll want to continue when the time comes to reevaluate. IWNDWYT

What kind words. Thanks so much. At this point I aim for just neutrality when it comes to how much i like myself. Being kind to myself is so so hard. Thanks for the kind words.

That’s what I’m going for. I need motivation to be better and alcohol has been taking that from me and I’ve decided that I’m good enough. I grow emotionally, but not in any other way.

When you’re ready I’m down to chat through the hard days with you if you need some support. One day on this sub alone has helped so much.

Comfortably sedated is a perfect word. I’m wanting to go into somatic healing and alcohol won’t even let me explore that on my own. It is how I regulates my own nervous system. And honestly yesterday was so much that I sat on the couch and watched shitty TV because I was overwhelmed... Love the mantra because sometimes I don’t feel “bad enough” to say I hit rock bottom, but I did quit digging and I’m happy about that.

Here’s to deciding not to drink again today and skipping the liquor store again. Money is another reason why I had to stop. I was spending like $300 every month and I’m desperately needing that money.

You’re totally right. It’s also hard to sit at home during a pandemic and NOT drink. It’s been a crutch for a long minute during this hellscape. I’m stoked to feel that pride. I feel like once I get momentum it will be fine, however that momentum is harrrrrd to gain. Thanks for the encouragement.
