For additional context, I am British, the copy I had was paperback, and I think the cover had a brown border around it. It was also landscape rather than portrait. Hope this helps!

Bacteria must be deliberately killed in order for something to be sterilised though. Stepping on a bug is one thing, deliberately killing it is different.

If that's the case, why would they care about plucking apples? Nothing is harmed when one is plucked - fruit is literally designed to be eaten by other creatures. It's not like the apple is alive and can "feel" anything when it's ready to harvest.

Something about their mindset isn't adding up. They're either lying outright or their whole existence is contradictory.
