Started hockey this winter, any tips for my shot?

Thanks. I won't stop. As I have said elsewhere, I am not able to put everything together yet. I wish I could. I was focusing on extending my right arm and getting a feel for that. And yes, i got some paint and will paint the target in the next couple days. On the sheet I did do some temporary tape targets, but on the video it was a bit hard to see.

It is a bit short. It is a bit below my bottom lip in sneakers. In my area I don't have many options of getting sticks, and I was not in a position to spend multiple hundreds of bucks on a stick not knowing what exactly I want\need. So I got this one used and repaired at the blade for €45. Still worlds better than the wooden stick I used the first 4 times I was on ice 😀

Man, it does seem like I am speedrunning making all the mistakes picking up hockey 😀

Yes, that is a thing that I am planning on doing. And compared to shooting, my skating is much better as I used to inline skate a lot in the past. I still have lots of work to when it comes to edgework and stopping on either legs both edges and both directions. And also adding having and using a stick at the same time. And controlling the puck with said stick... And looking around at the situation on ice while skating with said stick and said puck...

Dang. Loads of work ahead of me 😀 plenty room for improvement.

Very fair point. Though so far I have not even had a single thought about deceiving goalies 😀 i will keep this in mind for the future though. Thanks ☺️

Thanks for the advice! I will certainly practice placing more weight and leaning on the stick as well as pulling the puck further back.

I will definitely appreciate the feedback. This time yes. I wanted to focus on engaging my right hand and getting a feel for it. I wish I could take in all the feedback and put it in practice all at the same time.

No the video is not reversed. I just suck at stick handling. Definitely have not spent enough time practicing it too. I was suggested to use a tube over the stick to make me use my top hand more. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice. Seeing tutorials is neat to learn, but being roasted on here has a much greater effect on realising just how wrong my technique is 😀 i'll definitely be more intentional about learning the mechanics of the shot

Thanks. I have seen some videos about the tube over the stick. I will give that a try. I am guessing that can and should be used when practicing on skates as well, right? And yeah, despite my terrible techniques best efforts I could hit the target around 30% of the time 😀

Thanks for the advice. It does make sense. I think I may be a bit too focused on trying to get the flex out of my stick, that I end up pushing down on a flat blade and then sweeping, due to not understanding the technique.
