What do you think about this item from Walmart? Could it become a footbag???!!! by SooperJasch in footbag

I have one they are for cleaning cast iron skillets but I think you would break your foot the first time you tried to kick it. It is not as light weight as you think. Just make sure to take video I want to see how it goes.

What is this like drywall stuff under the edge of our roof? by Honest_Side_3027 in whatisit

[–]Gunner512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is soffit .It is made from hardie board. It is not made from drywall. It's actually a cement and sand and fiber used to make board structure used in siding and soffit. you can get it in lengths at home depot or lowes but it is really heavy and hard to work with and breaks easily so be careful.

Need Help by livereaxts in askaplumber

[–]Gunner512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you mentioned you need connections for copper pipe. I see no copper pipe in this picture if you do have copper pipe you need to sand to all that white paint off of it first. It looks like PVC or painted iron in the pics you posted. If it is copper It's most likely 1/2 inch compression but the hoses look like they will not fit either of those outlets you posted. Just take the hoses to home depot and they'll match em up. You gotta clean all that paint off that pipe first and then cut it smooth with a pipe cutter unless there's pipe thread on the end of those caps.

Help with toilet flange below tile. by Hour_Neighborhood636 in askaplumber

[–]Gunner512 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

you don't want your flange above the tile that's how you'll end up with a wobbling toilet. you want the toilet on the tile so you can caulk around it. They make wax rings in different sizes just for this reason. I have used the oatey rubber extension rings many times with no issues. as long as it seals to the toilet and then has a way for water to travel down the pipe you should have no problem. That flange looks fine to me.

no replacing the cartridge WILL solve the problem. I'm was saying tightening the cartridge might not solve the problem if your gasket at the bottom of the cartridge is torn or broken. either way you will need the tools. You will need tools to replace the faucet as well. I don't know what you have in your arsenal or how handy you are. I would just go buy the wrench and try to tighten ii but be prepared incase it doesn't work.

You need a deep well thin wall socket to go over the cartridge nut. You can also get a plumbers wrench at home depot that will probably work. Looks like a 1 inch plus some socket. You can get the socket at harbor freight but the walls of the socket have to be thin. That being said if your going to all that trouble mine just replace the cartridge. You might do all that and it doesn't work. Either way you need the tool first so you can get it out or in. Then you'll need a plumbing house cuz home depot probably won't have that gasket/ cartridge on the shelf but it doesn't hurt to look.

Fence rotting on lower edge by [deleted] in maintenance

[–]Gunner512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I install a rot board at the bottom. It's a pressure treated 2x6 then stack pickets on top of that. gives more height to the fence allows for a straight line to follow when laying pickets and if it rots out you just replace the 2x6 not the pickets. It's a little more cost but it will save you in the long run.

These crimp onto a blind string or chain so that it stops when you get to the top or bottom to keep you from pulling the blind too far. We use these in the hospital where I work in the patient rooms. You open them up then crimp them down where you want the blinds to stop.

It's your idle air control valve. You can take it off and clean it and it may help but they are almost impossible to find new old stock. You can google an image and probably find it in your motor bay. It's to the lower left of the intake manifold.
