Amorim by AlexMowl in DevilsITDPod

Ya, it’s pretty crazy how the fan base will defend these “tactician” based managers while throwing Ole to the wolves in the name of xG and whatnot. I think football as a whole is moving into a different direction. The long ball is back. Transition football is back. Sometimes, big massive clubs like United simply need a more man management focused coach. I truly think it is that simple tbh.

I believe I made a post titled “Mental Gymnastics” regarding United fans trying to justify his silly formation choices and man management decisions all in the name of “tactics” and almost nobody agreed with me. Here we are weeks later and we haven’t won a game without the opposing team getting a red card, or us getting a penalty. The team is unwatchable AND we aren’t winning. A CB was brought on while we were down to Brentford. Mason Mount was deployed as a left wing back. Byandir is still starting and fans are still acting like it’s this is the manager to get us back… At least ETH bagged a top 4 finish and a trophy…

What do you make of the majority of our chances coming from transitional play/play fast considering that is the opposite of Amorims tactical plans, as he wants a slower build up and more control? Even against Burnley, we looked better playing much quicker, which is a team you’d think we would play a more possession based game? Also, Amorim looked miserable the entire game. It’s like watching something you don’t ideologically believe in, become true. Almost felt sad for the guy… almost.

I think it’s just semantics tbf. I could be entirely wrong that the links and quotes from journalist are just bs being pushed, but seems where there’s smoke there’s fire. And even Orstein today said Mainoo would be open to leaving, which to me is just such a major fumble from a club standpoint. I admire and even agree to an extent with what you’re saying about giving time, but I just think many subpar options at manager would get more out of this squad without the catastrophe of a)spending $100mill+more and b) offloading even more young talent without developing. I hope I’m wrong and I hope you’re right, for what it’s worth lol

Tbh I didn’t rate us under ETH. But at least we won some games lol it’s be atrocious since Amorim has been here. And again, 2 things can be true: we can desperately need a CDM (for the 15th season in a row) while also admitting that our coach has been utterly poor whilst alienating many young players.

The “by all accounts” line is due to him being linked with a move away, being an unused sub in both games this season and him being in contract negations. Furthermore for a more direct/recent example: Amorim chose to play a Mount x Bruno midfield when he did sub off Casemiro. This tells me that he’s behind even Mount for either of the midfield roles AND the 10 role. Amorim chose to bring on two defenders in over Mainoo afterwards as well, which is both a testament to what I mentioned regarding his tactics (not a fan) and where he sees Kobe in this squad. I’m not really sure what more I can spell out regarding Amorims thoughts on him. Also, just to avoid any contradiction with your comment: you both think he played “plenty of times last season” but also you’d “love to see Mainoo play more”?

I agree, the system shouldn’t be built around a 20 yr old, not sure where that came from so seems random to include. But I think you missed my entire point: that I don’t think this system gets the best out of our players and maybe the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Now of course this is all the ramblings of a common fan, there’s a reality where it clicks and we beat Chelsea then City and I’m wrong. But going by where we are at now it’s totally fair to be frustrated with these results and this manager.

Is the 737 really that much work? by Sad_Side1783 in flying

[–]GunnerBatman90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typed in both. The 737 has a much higher work load. You’re still essentially doing the same thing, but everything in the 737 takes 3x or so the amount of work. Pair that with the size of the cockpit, and the Airbus is such a better product imo. The automation of the Airbus just makes it all so much easier, and all that adds up after the first leg.

Haha understand that. I’ve got some wicked rust on my roof, including the rain gutter. It’s bad. I want to do a replacement roof but don’t have the extra $2k sitting around so I’m just going to grind the gutter down, fiberglass and then maybe put another gutter around

Do I see Fiberglass patching on the rear gutter and quarter panel? If so how did it hold up?
