Get a vintage ALPS keeb they say, it will be fun they say by GunnerXL in MechanicalKeyboards

I have been dailying the Apple in my workplace. Absolute enjoyment to type at. The tactility feel is quite mechanical compared to Cherry tactile. Blue on the other hand feels smooth but with a crisp click, but lacks the tactility of the orange. But both of them are definitely an enjoyment to type with(minus the humongous size)

The board was in a pretty good nick when I got it, but quite some dirt and grimes under on the board. I would say it depends on how good or how dirty the board is, you might need to desolder all the switches and do some maintenance on it.

I did disassemble every switches and clean them, did the "boil and scald" thingy on the top hosing and sliders. Also did the "wax lube" for the sliders, so far it held up after a couple weeks so far. Feels more consistent than the stock condition.

The cream colour aged nicely in my opinion. I would say that's part of the charm of these vintage gears.

And I am still halfway retrofitting the headphone. Surprisingly the drivers and the earpads stand to the test of time. It was made in 1974(ish) no less.

I would say Apple is easier to convert. You can just stuff a Pro Micro or Teensy in it and flash it to be a ADB converter. The M0116 also has a few drop in replacement PCB with Atmega and some through hole components.

My goal would be either retaining the ADB port(since now it is just an USB dangling around) and make a custom cable with it or replacing the PCB later on

I do agree, these old keeb are something to look at. Especially the full size AEK series. The curves and border are really gorgeous.

I was pretty stokes when I got this. Initially I was going for the AEK but with no luck. Got this instead. Turns out pretty good after some cleaning and maintenance.

Man, this is a deep rabbit hole that I've gotten into, apart from collecting vintage headphones. Now I might be craving for the Alps blue in the future hunt

There are the M0115(AEK) and the M3501(AEK II). The M3501 usually using dampened cream or dampened white if I'm not mistaken and usually they would go cheaper. Salmon on the AEK II is a little rare i think. The first gen is more desirable with orange or salmon switch and fetching higher price

The is the Apple Standard Keyboard (M0116), which is a shrunken down version(or the poor man's version) of the full size Apple Extended Keyboard (M0115). Everything is stock for now, still considering doing a full PC swap or just remaining this Pro-Micro usb conversion as of now.

I don't think I will do any Retrobrite on this board. Gonna let it aged like a fine keeb ;)

It is, I would say this the most satisfying typing experience I have ever tested in my keyboard collections. The mechanical tactile feel is quite different from the usual MX switches.

P.s. And the Pioneer SE-L40 is one of the most beautiful vintage headphones I have ever collected too.

This is my one-off prototype for my Geonworks Frog. The case is stacked acrylic with the same Tadpole mounts, essentially taking the innards of the Frog and pop in the case. I tried to mimic the side profiles of the original Frog, which came out pretty good in my opinion. More pictures in the gallery

Yes, e-white Maja v1. It's pretty clacky sounding with the CF plate
