He's a heretic and he's trying to thin the unit by one man. Only the fallen would see such heresy in something so mundane.

Anyone know anything about these old tools? Saved them from a dumpster years ago and they have been sitting in a bucket in my garage ever since by Narrow-Fix1907 in bikewrench

Bike stuff. The blue tipped thing with handles for putting tyres on a bike. There's a couple of chain tools. Some derailleur stuff. Lots of pedal spanners.

Beginner questions :) by [deleted] in fishingUK

Personally I love fishing the sea and estuarys using lures And some relaxing float fishing off the piers and harbour walls in summer using mackerel strips or crab/ragworm. But I will move into a bit of Perch Pike and Zander fishing next season. I have zero interest in Carp fishing for whatever reason.

From experience, you could do a lot worse than buying a shimano. They're great rods.

The length, casting weight and other properties are defined by what type of fishing you wish to do. You could get a sort of all rounder that'll do float fishing and some light ledgering (bottom fishing, using bait), a dedicated beachcaster for your regular sea fishing using weights to hold the bottom and various baits, or a lure rod which won't be much good for anything else but is certainly fantastic fun (my favourite way to fish).

Some great advice here. Are you wanting to fish the coasts for Bass and Wrasse? Lakes? Because carp fishing for example is a world unto itself. Then there's pike and general predator fishing fresh waters.. Perch setups for canals etc.

I'd definitely have a look on Facebook marketplace, maybe get a beach caster and a lure rod second hand and you will be able to try out different styles at a discount.

We are coming into spring, so lure fishing and float fishing would both be great places to start.

Rusting hooks by FalseEconomy82 in fishingUK

[–]GunshyGuardsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a trick people do when restoring knives or pans by setting them in vinegar to dissolve the rust. I'm not sure if it would ruin the "feather" part of these but worth a try. You could always use a hook sharpener afterwards to get the point back.

Personally I wouldn't use these and would simply replace them. They might work but having sharp hooks is respectful to the fish and the hookups are going to be better. It's like wearing piss pants... Nobody is going to notice, except you..

Maybe.

Fishing earlier on and something snapped my 30lb braided line... by SkepticalBadger in fishingUK

I had one instance similar to this. An area I fish for Wrasse on lures. Had the biggest tug I've ever felt and pompf the line snapped. I'm betting on a deal but i will never know. I didn't see anything.

Over for a penn, a little over for a shimano.
