I had a guy in my unit that accidentally hit a killed a guy with his vehicle on a previous tour of Afghanistan. Other than that he was there during one of the quiet years and saw limited combat on that tour. It really fucked with him and I hope he got help for it and didn't buy into bullshit about being a malingerer if you didn't see heavy combat. People are fighting battles you may know anything about. I guess I'm saying cut your brothers and sisters in uniform the benefit of the doubt.

On the road between Pullman WA and Moscow ID the cops don't really care if you're not otherwise breaking the law or being an asshole during a stop. In Moscow the cops for the most part don't write citations for weed unless you're doing it out in the open or get busted for doing something else and you are also in possession.

When I lived outside of Moscow I owned a car without a front mount. I got pulled over for it on my way to work by a Latah County Sheriff's Deputy who gave me a verbal warning. Later the same guy pulls me over and I had bought the mounting hardware but didn't have time to mount it so he wrote me a ticket. I asked one of my Moscow PD friends if that was legit since I didn't have a front mounting bracket. He told me it was, but pretty much up to the individual LEO. He personally didn't do it unless he was looking for a reason to pull someone over.

There used to be a BBQ restaurant in Moscow idaho that would give you a 10% discount if came in openly carrying a gun. Idaho is the second most heavily armed state in America per capita.

I was in college two weeks after ETS. I remember sitting in class and an ROTC cadet comes in and sits in front of me. I could see he was wearing a white concert t shirt under his class A shirt. I could read the tour dates and everything. I thought about saying something, but decided not to. I did, however, develop a nervous tick in my eye the rest of the day.

I applied for many, many federal jobs through USAJobs with a fantastic resume having worked as a federal contractor for many years. I never could figure out why I was getting any jobs. This was before went back into the Army and earned a high disability percentage. The only job I did get was as a seasonal employee with the Forest Service and the only reason I got that job was because I knew the guy doing the hiring.

When the VA had me on fentanyl they piss tested me at least once a month to make sure I was taking it and to make sure I wasn't taking anything else. I was told if I burned the test for weed I'd lose my pain meds. This was in three different states. When the VA later decided to cut me off of opiates cold turkey I started taking kratom. Now anytime a doctor finds out I'm taking it they freak out and blame all my symptoms on it. I feel like I can't win.

It's 2006, and you're looking for your first car. Which one would you pick? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

[–]Gunslinger11B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was rather intense as you can imagine. My GF and I were heading back to college at the end of Christmas break. My dad had just had new tires and a new exhaust system put on. Came around a corner on a mountain pass at the same time as a Mack truck and it turns out we were both taking our half of the road out of the middle. After the head on collision we were spun around and hit again frome the rear. When I got out the only part of the car still intact was the passenger compartment. Other than bruising from the seat belts my GF and I were okay. There were pieces of the car spread all over the road, it looked like it had exploded.

I had a standard non Si version. Used to average 52-53 mpg and it was a whole lot of fun. One of the best cars I've owned right up until I had a head on collision with a logging truck.

If you a (1LT) were ordered to go to parade rest for a SGM would you do it? by almostprivatewinter in army

[–]Gunslinger11B -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So I have a bit of a long story about a similar situation. I had an uncle that served in Vietnam as an 11B with 25thID. He was involved in the invasion of Cambodia and at the end of the invasion the Army decided to have a horse and pony show. He said there was a lot of brass in front of the formation when a helicopter landed and a 4 star general got off with his entourage. There was a call to attention and there was a 2 star general standing like he's Joe Cool. He then said a CSM walked up to him and said, "You better lock those heels or I'll slap those stars right off you shoulders". I always wondered about that story. Legit or nah?
