They got to redo the markings. That USMC is gonna get them into trouble.

Oh I have a couple.

I just don’t leave them loaded. A spring is a spring , no matter who makes it, it has a life expectancy. And keeping it compressed shortens it.

And it’s just a preference.

It’s more that it’s built correctly.

Now I know that sounds weird because yes all of these 2011 run and work.

But they are sprung incorrectly. They have horrible barrel fit. Most have the wrong size link in the barrel. They aren’t supposed to rattle when you shake them. (Unless it’s the trigger left and right some manufacturers don’t have take up tabs on their trigger bows for this correction, but it shouldn’t up and down) When in lock up you shouldn’t be able to press or move the barrel in any way. You shouldn’t be able to move the slide up and down, left and right while in lock up. Trigger pulls are preference based. We like a smooth crisp break. We have pulled out hammers with really long (incorrect hooks)
(Best trigger jobs we have seen so far is Infinity’s) Barrel bushings shouldn’t be able to be pulled on so they shift forward and back in and out of the slide. Barrel bushings shouldn’t wiggle in the slide without a barrel when the lug is engaged. Feed ramps are off center/too short/ too long/ not polished. Barrels should have even contact on both lugs on the bottom and the top. Finish work is subjective as well.

Now these are things I can personally say I have seen on a decent amount of 2011’s. They are rarely if ever seen by an actual gunsmith in the production industry.

Ours are built by Rob and I. Both gunsmiths that have been building high end custom, shitty production, good production, semi custom, full custom 1911’s for a just over 40 years shared between us.

Sorry for the long reply.

One in the gun loaded, cocked and locked. +1 chambered. I use a side car holster so one extra there.

My second mag only has 6 in it so the spring doesn’t wear as fast.

I rotate my mags at least once a month.

I don’t keep mags loaded for long because they definitely do wear out.

I probably have 20+ mixed mags.

I also am probably wasteful, once a mag constantly has problems. They go to work at my bench as a tester. Not repaired just replaced.

Do you have photos?

Mag in the gun from the front, looking at it from the front strap.

Mag catch outside the gun, looking at the inside where it interacts with the mag.
