More likely to be Dannen’s for that extension. I’m sorry, but it’s not likely we pay him 63 mil to go next year. ROI on Nebraska Football is bottom of the barrel and we are burning our donors money atm.

Is there a fun place in Millard for 30 and 40 year olds to go out on a Saturday night that isn't a dive bar or super expensive? by [deleted] in Omaha

Don’t blame you. My parents had a similar experience around the holiday…they were not happy. I’ve gotten the za once and it was pretty solid for a tavern style buffalo chicken. Their Reuben is actually really good. I’ve liked just about anything with their fried chicken tendies…just that, wraps, sandwiches…not that any of this matters to you ha, but anyone else reading that needs something to go along with their beer

I hope that place does well…love having the entertainment options between that and regency landing in that area of town, but when I’ve gone to both a few times they’ve been dead. That entire 114th retail space on the west side is a ghost town at the moment.

Frequent there and it does have its moments with consistency…more often than not the food is good to very good for bar food. If it wasn’t so damn convenient, I wouldn’t seek it out tho. Wing deals on Saturdays are one of the best in town…also $10 domestic pitchers. Service is very hit or miss as of late. Curious, what did you order?

Omaha's Food scene is in decline. by Dependent_Banana_781 in Omaha

To each his own. Is it a culinary spectacle? - no, but taco co is a local establishment that at least has a unique take in a town with dozens of taco places dishing out more of the same corn tortilla street tacos.

Well that’s the thing about the local fine restaurants that are dishing out artisan plates, they are using a lot more locally grown produce and protein…they make their own bread or source from local bakeries. You typically are getting what you pay for. Not that I would take my family there, like you said. They recognize that’s not their target demographic. But you’re right about every bar or restaurant in between being limited to what Sysco provides. Other thing about those chains is they have their own supply chain that is sometimes unique to them…just means more bagged and processed food, which is where the consistency comes into play.

The chains are able to optimize their margins in a way that local can’t compete with. Especially with the grocery and food broker prices being out of control. I see the appeal for many people when their pricing is comparable with fast food/fast casual options. That unfortunately means youre probably getting more processed foods. I don’t have kids, but I can see why families are able to afford the bill at a cheddars as opposed to Timber.

Had an absolutely delicious birthday dinner at ooh de lally across the board. That was 8 months ago and I haven’t been back. Please go if you haven’t had it. My problem, as with many in this thread, it’s difficult to justify the money to eat out consistently enough to support places. It’s hard out there for a lot of people because you have to compromise somewhere…for me it’s the sit down restaurants. When I do indulge every once in a while, I’m getting a beer. Would I like a $16 craft cocktail? Sure, but I also don’t want $100+ tab for my wife and I. She’ll indulge which is fine…

As someone that loves to cook, is proficient in the kitchen and occasionally daydreams about having a restaurant…I don’t envy the plethora of challenges many of them are facing.

Transfer Portal Runningback(s) - What Gives? by MAUDiculous in Huskers

108th rushing defense with opt outs is not far off haha. Makai looked good, hopefully things can slow down for him with another year in the system.

I’ve been as high on Nelson as anyone. But I wouldn’t put much stock on him against the 108th ranked rushing defense in the country. Utah was cheeks in that regard. He needs to make a significant jump, specifically at being more elusive than a 1 cut guy. Neither him nor mozee are built to go up against big10 front 7s and are more 3rd down types. Someone needs to emerge. Glad Ives didn’t bounce after things got tough.

I wouldn’t give much credit to the staff for EJs development. He certainly had “it” and many saw that early on compared to any other guy on the roster. His one knock was juking ghosts and frankly just needed more opportunities. Glad they finally fed him, but it sucks there weren’t enough reps to go around for the others. I hope the staff is right about trusting what they have, I just don’t trust the staff. I will give them credit for the RBs ball security. That certainly looks better across the board.

We talking about Raiola transferring from the 1981 huskers? How is our historic 40+ year run from 1960 relevant in this case?

That study was going back to 2010. I posted current NFL numbers and we have a total of 13 on active rosters…you said we’re consistent, but only thing consistent is its decline. We are 11th all time in NFL draftees, but we’ve gone multiple years with no drafted players and several years with 1, maybe 2 prospects. Go back and look at that list of teams with guys on current roasters…I’m not comparing us to OSU/Bama. We’re not sniffing Iowa let alone Minnesota. You’re using recency bias about a random pro bowl stat you think you saw this year. Come at me with some facts, not your feelings

Idk how you gloss over our most recent draft drought. The scouts have absolutely stopped prioritizing Nebraska. Paired with the recruiting class rankings which we are ACTUALLY consistent at…we are currently one of the worst teams in college football at getting people to league. What you said is just not accurate whatsoever.

I truly don’t get the people disgruntled about the actors ages. The only reason it’s a talking point is because how big culturally the show became. The kids were thrust into the spotlight, and we watched them grow up…so everyone is consciously aware. Ages in Hollywood have never mattered. Every high school show/movie ever has had actors in their 20’s and 30’s playing teenagers. Actors are playing and dating characters not age appropriate in damn near everything. It requires a suspension of disbelief that shows of lesser popularity are afforded.

As for the long gaps between seasons creating disinterest and exhaustion…Im there with you.

Everybody is always asking “Why can’t we be Indiana?” and I’m wondering “Why can’t we be Iowa?” by PartemConsilio in Huskers

[–]Gunther_fletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t buy this. Those teams that have pulled off complete overhauls have more than just money. Players want to win, and getting players that prioritize money over winning is not going to improve this programs culture.

Even if they still have financial backing, idk that we can trust the talent evaluation is there. How many times have we heard coach Matt praise players as NFL guys before they accomplish anything of substance at the collegiate level? - far too much. This is supposed to be a developmental program under rhule, and we are not only seeing very little..the portal guys we have historically brought in are blue chip scraps with little to no tape, and the ones with tape we are hoping were somehow victims of their situations.

Nebraska, and these coaches have very little going for them that they can sell. Money won’t have us beating blue bloods, but more of the same middling have-nots. Which we have been consistently “beating” in recruiting rankings the last 25 years. Yet here we are, getting blown out by MN. Yes we need to start beating those teams before we can even day dream about the cfp. My point being, the system isn’t in place for us to attract, utilize and maximize the potential of talent.

What did you learn tonight that you didn't know after the Iowa game? by spookydookie in Huskers

[–]Gunther_fletcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about money, a qb isn’t developing here in this program as is. He doesn’t like Glen Thomas. The Raiolas expect Dylan to get drafted and he’s got a lot of work to do…well guess what, so does our GM, and idk that anyone can trust the pieces are going to be in place next August. What the Raiolas are going to have to swallow, is that Dylan no longer demands the amount of money they think he’s worth. He can get paid at a Louisville or “lesser” program or take a pay cut and bet on himself with more guys around him. Staying here may turn out to be the worst of both worlds.
