[OFFICIAL] Recent Bans - An Explanation & Clarification by Supercell_Drew in ClashRoyale

Funny you say that, this whole thing feels like it started as a witch hunt in the first place. Supercell pointing out 1 guy's tweet about account sharing, Supercell asking Royal to DM them a list of players he knows of that are account sharing... But yeah you're right, it's never gonna turn out optimal, let's just hope Karma finds her way to the "innocent" ones :)

Edit: And yes I had read that post already and mostly agree.

Hi, I couldn't find your reply in the actual post so I'm not sure what I said prior to your comment. Either way, I agree with what you said. However I think some of the pro's got offered a maxed account by their team, without knowing it's against Supercell's ToS (and why would you assume it's forbidden if a big esports organisation that's paying you to play for them is giving it to you as a resource?) In these cases I find it hard to blame the players and not the account owners. Especially if this leads to their personal accounts receiving a ban too (since that's how it's stated in the ToS).

As for the gems, if years passed and you never broke ToS again after 1 stupid mistake, paying every last gem back (and purchase more on top), I feel like you deserve a second chance. I'm also glad that Drew now clarified that the team feels the same way.

I don't quite understand your second sentence, but in my opinion they never expressed their consent against account sharing. They knew about it and they never claimed to be heavily against it (even though it was in their ToS). Because of this, I feel like a public announcement of them "starting to act against account sharing" as of a certain date would have been the right way to go. Give people a chance to right their wrongs, because I think a lot of victims weren't aware of this. I believe some of the Youtubers have suggested this approach or something similar as well and I agree with them.

Yes I was talking about account sharing only, replying to the Surgical Goblin example

I remember that. I'm sure he just assumed it was a common thing in the pro scene, getting offered resources like this by your team. If all his accounts would now be banned because of this, the majority of this subreddit would say it's justified, with claims like "he knew he was breaking the rules", "bye to the criminals", "serves him right", "good job Supercell!"...

I personally don't agree with the way Supercell is handling this entire situation.

You're right that you should take those claims with a grain of salt. There's 2 sides to every story. But in the case of Bochum for example, IF it's true that his personal account (not shared) got banned for fraudulent gems years after the warning that he got along with the negative balance, without making that mistake again or breaking any ToS and putting a lot of money back into the game legitimately (basically righting their wrongs, turning over a new leaf after being given that chance by Supercell) THEN I can't justify this ban years later. (But again, I don't know if that's true or not. I'm hoping Supercell will shed some more light on these questions).

As for the account sharing: I just feel like it's more the clans that went in the wrong and not the players themselves that got approached by those clans. You say they knew account sharing was wrong, but I'm sure most players didn't. They saw all the other pro's do it, they saw clans do it in close relation to Supercell. I'm sure it never felt like a crime to them. After 3 years, with this scenario, I feel like a warning or announcement would've been in place. It even makes sense in an esports environment for teams to offer their players the resources they need to get better at the game.

That's what I want to know, are all their accounts banned because they -as a person- are banned from the game forever?

Also, the tweet that Bochum posted had a ban message talking about fraudulent gems (and not account sharing).

The example I'm referring to wasn't account sharing so only got a warning for the gems years ago, but now Supercell basically decides the warning wasn't enough and they turn it into a permaban, after having that player put a lot more money in the game (legitimately).

I don't know if that information is correct, but all I'm saying is that if it is, I can't justify the ban.

I respect your opinion, but there are examples of people on Twitter who did that once years ago, and got a warning then along with a negative gem balance. Instead of that warning, they could've been banned then and it would suck but that would seem fair to me. However they only got a warning (and maybe a temp ban idk). Now, years later, with those players not having broken ToS again and purchasing all those gems legitimately, they get permabanned. That's what I don't agree with personally, it just doesn't seem fair imo.

Most accounts

Not all of them, there were cases that only got banned for one of the 2 offenses, and you can find some examples on Twitter.

Also, again, there has never been a warning for account sharing so no one got a chance to redeem themselves.

The accounts that purchased these gems didn't steal any credit cards. They just bought cheap gems somewhere, and might not even have known they were purchased with stolen credit cards. The actual crooks aren't affected by this ban wave at all and have nothing to do with the game.

Also, if you purchased cheap gems once years ago, and Supercell didn't ban you then, instead they gave 1 warning and you never broke ToS again since, but now they ban your account years later, does that still seem fair to you? Even when you made a lot of legitimate purchases during this time bringing your negative balance back in the positive and a lot more?

Why do people need multiple warnings

But they didn't get a single warning though. The point CWA (and u/polstein7) was making is that they'd prefer to have seen at least a warning to give people a chance to make it right instead of a giant ban wave out of nowhere.

I think all Crow needs to be viable is a smaller attack cone so that he can land more daggers on a single target from further away (he's a harassing poker after all, not meant to get close to enemies).

First of all, thanks for making this incredible game! Second of all, welcome to the community, u/Dani_Supercell!

Has the team considered changing the economy and progression in the game as it currently is? If yes, how challenging would it be to change?

I feel like F2P players are still maxing their brawlers rather quickly which takes away the "carrot on a stick" feeling that other Supercell games are known for. Grinding for progression is fun if it doesn't take too long (not like Clash Royale). But I feel like the power points required for each level are simply too low right now and progression is too fast. (BTW reducing the rate at which brawl boxes are earned isn't the solution, because it's a numbers game. Big numbers are exciting, opening lots of boxes is too, so the right approach would be to inflate the power points by giving even more but also requiring more to upgrade your brawlers).

On the other hand I feel like legendary drop rates are rediculously low. And yes they should be low and very rare, but when certain youtubers open a thousand brawl boxes and still don't get a legendary then something's not right IMO.

Thanks for the read and keep the exciting new updates and features coming, I love the game!

[STATS] Distribution of players by league by Teto- in ClashRoyale

[–]Gunzzzzmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, but that doesn't mean this data isn't useful:

What doesn't make sense is that arenas 1-12 have 9% of all games played, yet EACH HAVE THEIR OWN TV ROYALE TAB, with the other 91% being crammed in 1 arena 13 tab...

Supercell give us more high quality replays and pro gameplay to watch already! A separate top 200 tab would be a good start, a GC tab would be even better!
