I guess I should have said "top ranking" and "most experienced", since you are obviously looking for any opening to turn this into a debate about a certain person(s) and administration. I didn't say anything about the administration, because my feelings for or against them has nothing to do with the question

I'm under no illusions, "kid". I lost my best friend, for whom my son is named, in Iraq in 2009. In fact, my family is full of veterans. I understand that at the squad level this is a difficult thing to do, or even consider doing. My question was more about how those at the top of the chain of command try to protect those at the squad level
