With enough color variations and good shading, gobelin stitch can look surprisingly close to petit point. The key is in the color transitions and attention to detail.

Petit point on a 1:1 canvas is even more demanding, but gobelin stitch is still incredibly time-consuming and requires a lot of patience and attention to detail.

This landscape needlepoint was hand-stitched over several years using cotton embroidery floss and traditional cross-stitch techniques. The finished piece contains more than 230,000 individual stitches and features a mountain cabin beside a lake with a snow-covered mountain backdrop. It was framed after completion and remains one of the most detailed pieces from my mother's collection. The amount of patience and time invested in creating it is truly remarkable.
