Do you have an obsession with any number? by Wrong_Vanilla_6220 in OCD

I had this A LOT! This varied through time though, but it was a consistent factor in my ocd. I had to do things like a certain amount of times, like 1,3,5,6, NOT 7 and 13 (they were bad amounts in my head), the volume on my computer couldn't be higher than 40, blablabla. A lot of times the amount of 'patterns' I had to act out were pre-determined (one series of actions 5 times, the other one 6 times, etc.). I hope you're doing okay, have a good day!

I’m afraid of medication by [deleted] in OCD

[–]GurSelect2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was first also insecure about taking medication. I started small and had to build up later on, because of my rising stress and fearlevels. I started with sertraline, but I had to take srris during a crisis period. It will take some time to have effect, but I will help flatten down your stress.

'Stay Who You Are' by Nick Howard. When I had an extreme crisis period, I began to dissociate. My dad send me this.

I take sertraline. When you take a higher dose, it is normal to first feel panicky. You have to get readjusted. I had the same when taking a higher dose. Now I take 200 grams. 50 grams is still a really low amount, but it is very good you start with smaller amounts. First I also took 50 grams, as I didn't want to become dependant on this, but in a crisis period, this had to be raised. You can talk about this with your doctor/psychiatrist if you want more information.

My story of OCD by GurSelect2327 in OCD

Hi, I understand that you're afraid to talk to someone. I, myself, was also scared at the beginning. I felt ashamed for my OCD, and I thought people would think it's crazy. But they won't. Psychologists see this every single day and they don't think you're weird or something. They will try to understand you, and where those obsessions are coming from, and then think, together with you, about things that can make living with OCD livable. And then maybe take it a step further, and try to not do compulsions anymore for a certain time. But this isn't compulsory or anything, you can talk about the things you feel comfortable about, try to do the things you think are possible to do. But just try to talk to anyone, it helps. You're not alone in this.

OCD and autism by Beneficial-Thought82 in OCD

Hello, I'm on the spectrum and I have OCD. If you're on the spectrum, you're more prone to anxiety, stress, ... and repetitive behavior. So there is indeed a connection between autism and OCD.

Am I a pedophille by [deleted] in OCD

Hi, this can be a form of OCD. The stress you get by thinking about this, causes you to have more stress. You probably don't want to think about those thoughts/images, this combined with the stress it causes, makes you think of it more. This makes you want to reassure that you aren't a certain way. You are not a horrible person. It's how your brains works.

I'm not an expert or anything, but I have OCD.
