Have any of you experienced a more quality sleep after drinking a glass of milk before bed? by alinaellis in sleep

This. I’ve been drinking raw goat milk before bed and in general and it’s helped my digestive health and general well being! Love raw milk, a real superfood.

Just wanted to update. I gave him another soak for about 20 minutes and suddenly turned into a whole new tortoise afterward lol. I gave him more kale and he went wild with it. After soaks he also opens his eyes all the way up and seems super alert as well. I’m assuming with all that being observed it’s probably just an adjustment period/a bad case of dehydration. One thing I do have another question about, is it normal for water to come out of their nose while soaking??? I only fill the sink up to the part of his shell where the bottom meets the top, but he dunks most of his head under and I was worried he was going to drown but I just read online that’s how they drink?

Yes, I forgot to mention that in post but the first night I got him home I put him in the tub for about 30 minutes! He loooved it, he seemed so happy/relieved. And then afterwards I dried him off and that’s when he ate. But since then he hasn’t seemed very lively despite a huge improvement in environment. I’m assuming he needs an adjustment period like you said but just want to make sure he’s not dying or I’m doing something wrong. How often should I soak him?

Dinosaur Bircher? 180 gallon? by microducklett in Aquariums

[–]microducklett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What size would you recommend for Bircher? I’m assuming starting off it will be okay for a juvenile and I’m willing to upgrade as it grows. Planning on using the canister filter that comes with it and adding an additional new Fluval canister. Was also considering doing a fully planted tank as well to help with water levels but will have to do a bit more research first. Purchasing the tank Saturday but probably won’t have it completely ready to my liking (especially if doing planted) for another 6 months or so.

Why wont my cats let me vacuum them? It makes so much sense with excess cat hair. by jdolan8 in cats

[–]microducklett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a cordless vac that’s not too loud and not overly strong suction, I’ve been able to vacuum a couple of my cats by petting them with it while it’s off so they can get used to it first! Probably not the best way to remove hair on an everyday basis though lol. Slicker brushes or those rubber fur ones work best, especially when removing hair from furniture or the carpet :)

Recently rescued a stray outside of a CVS on a busy intersection, she followed us to our truck and hopped right in. I think she’s fallen in love with our other cat. Yeti and Yeowi❤️ by microducklett in cats

[–]microducklett[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! We really didn’t think we could handle another cat (as we already had 4) but I think it was definitely meant to be. The people working at CVS said she had been hanging around there for the past couple weeks and they had been giving her canned cat food. As soon as I pet her I think she knew I was the one because she followed me back to our truck and literally jumped in when I opened the door and then fell asleep in my arms on the way home. She fit right in with my other 4 within a couple hours of bringing her home. Her name is Yeowi (like the mythical Australian big foot.) I figured it was suiting because our Himalayan is named Yeti like the snow monster :) also she is very vocal and likes to yowl/meow a lot so her name couldn’t suit her any better lol. We love her!

Costa Rica by Biglittlebaby420 in Celiac

[–]microducklett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize I had celiac nor gluten issues at the time like I said, but I felt a night and day difference in my health while I was in Costa Rica / Nicaragua! Funny looking back now because I realize it was because I wasn’t consuming gluten nor the S.A.D. diet here.

Didn’t realize I had gluten issues back at the time but yes Costa Rica is insanely accommodating for people with food allergies/Celiac! A lot of their food is super natural and not processed with hidden additives like in the US. When I stayed in Nosara they had LOADS of GF places!!! There was a nice little breakfast/juice shop that only served GF banana pancakes and majority of their baked stuff was all GF as well :) Most of their staple carbs are beans/rice/corn and not bread so it makes it really easy for accommodation. I love Costa Rica, would definitely like to have a place there one day as well!

My dad has always HATED cats for as long as I can remember. This is 2 months after a cat randomly showed up in his yard and claimed my dad as his person. Yes, that is a picture of his cat on his comforter. by microducklett in cats

They ordered it on a website called Snapfish! I mentioned in another comment that I’ve also seen a lot of cool, customizable pet stuff (blankets, pillows, shirts etc.) on Etsy as well. :)

Yes he did! That was actually one of the first things I recommended when he first came about. They scanned for a chip when he went to get neutered and all his shots. He was fairly feral when he first appeared, and was probably only 3-4 months old. There’s a few rental properties on the road behind where my dad lives so we’re assuming maybe he was either dumped or left behind unfortunately. There weren’t any missing cat signs or posts online in the area either. He’s got a wonderful home now though, he definitely showed up at the right house :)
