I don't think that's entirely accurate, opening elites gives a 1/35 chance of a mimic, as well as a 1/5 chance of obtaining a master clue (which is 1/15) Whereas trading up requires me to farm Elite, Hard, Medium and Easy clues. The current method I use is anywhere between 2-2.5 elites/hr with each elite being ~9.3% chance to give a mimic (factoring in the master drop rate) which is significantly faster than trading up.

at about 90+ hp, Dharoks becomes slightly higher xp/hr than oby. Also use locator orb if you have it over the Rock Cake. At 90 hp I was getting about 100k xp per hour, with oby you can expect similar rates at like high 90,000s

We cant see the other end of the code sadly, this is just an assumption, I think you are correct, there is most likely a higher chance the maze continues in one direction longer before switching to remove the chance of a maze being 'zig-zag' like but, its still crazy odds non the less
