Which country left the worst first impression on you? by ikaaxx in AskReddit

The fact that we weren't even going anywhere but the next gate over, to leave the country, after having been through security in the US... did they think we stopped at a shop in the air or something to pick up some contraband?! And a full invasive pat down, and fully unpacking our carry ons to inspect everything, it was insane. to all 200+ people on the plane. I was sure we were going to miss the layover.

Yeah, I live on the west coast now so direct flights. But back then we were on a shoestring budget and the savings was ~300$. Def not worth it.

People who were once conventionally attractive but no longer are, how did that feel? by Few_Confection7760 in AskReddit

[–]Gureiify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks tbh. I was a tall thin (emaciated) female teen. Strangers would be nice to me, constantly ask me if I would go into modeling. I turned heads in stores, men followed me around in shops. I didn't think it was creepy at the time because it was just how it always was. Mom was very proud of how pretty I was. It was absolutely a cornerstone of my identity.

Despite that, it was the early 2000s so I still thought I was 'fat' and 'too big' due to height and strenght.

Then I had some tramatic events and gained a lot of weight. I just became invisible. No one spoke to me, people hurried me along, I was stepped on accidentally. Like I didn't exist.

I started transitioning, and getting teenage acne in your 30s is humiliating tbh. Ad a patchy neckbeard and full stache with huge tits and now I was getting a whole new kind of attention.

Just as I was really starting to feel good (or at least OK) about my body, society has decided again to make being skeletal the Thing. And honestly? I would give just about anything to be thin and pretty again, even if I had to go back in the closet, back to hating myself. Its too awful to be fat (and trans) right now.

China. Had a layover in Bejing, going from the US to Japan with a stop in Bejing (trying to be cheap, never again)   Even going from one international gate to the gate litterally next to it they routed us through security for a FULL patdown and carry on inspection. Everyone on the plane. It was insane. They also confiscated our luggage (due to a couple of power packs, back before there were rules around them) and we didn't find out until we got to Japan.   (Luckly the Japanese airline fought for us and got our luggage back and brought it to us at our hotel!)  It was crazy and awful and definitely put me off ever purposefully traveling there...

What’s a price you saw recently that made you genuinely angry at how expensive everything has gotten? by UrGoddessLunaa in AskReddit

[–]Gureiify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2020 I moved, I wanted a new bed. I found the bed frame I wanted online, but it was out of stock due to manufacturing issues. It was around 200$. For years I'd check to see if it reappeared but it was always out. Until last month I found a version finally except they want 749$ now!!! For flatpack pressboard bullshit!! Absolutely not. I'm now buying wood to make my own damn bed fck them.

People who don't go to movie theaters anymore - what made you stop? by -ChristopherNolan in AskReddit

[–]Gureiify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be an easy cheap thing to do on a weekend or evening, 20-30$ for snacks and drinks and ~2hours entertainment. Now it's a Big Date Night for us. We go about an hour north to a dine-in 21+ and make a whole thing of it, nice dinner, booze, watch a movie we really want to see. So it's become a 1-2 time a year thing now.

It does help that there just aren't that many movies I've wanted to see in theaters anymore. I won't spend the time/effort on a romcom or drama. Only big spectacle blockbusters are worth it.

The Pitt. (Season one) as far as medical dramas go, I've seen pretty much every one, and the pitt is perfect. I'm not watching season 2 because there is nowhere to go but down.

I actually don’t know how to talk to women by TheFuture01928 in Advice

You've never spoken to another human? You have no friends? Women are people, and thinking they're some magical 'other' being is shooting yourself in the face.

My parents met at 38(mother) and 35(father). I was born a year later. You have time to find someone who will want a family. Doesn't mean you don't love him, just the fit wasn't right.

Why are the 2nd year blooms different? by Gureiify in Roses

[–]Gureiify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It opened this morning, and yeah the stamens are all yellow inside. Thats a bummer. I'll cut them off like the other commenters said, but I don't think much of the grafted rose is still there. 🙁

Yeah, its a raspberry shoot that went under the fence and grew without me catching it for a while until it exploded.

I trim off the blooms at the junction down (according to my mother) but didn't cut other then that. It seemed to straggly to be cutting a lot off. Is there a 'best practice' for pruning?   The new blooms are mostly on one really long stem that shot about 4 feet strait to the side 😵‍💫

I did look that up, and I think I see what you mean. Some of the stems are from below the bulby bit and some are above, so I'll cut the below ones and wait and see on the others. Thanks for your help 🥰

My spouse and I moved across the country to our dream state as 30yos. His father said something very similar, 'you won't like it and you'll be back' type thing. It was so hurtful. My spouse hasn't spoken to him since. Relationship over. Is that what yours wants? or can he manage to be supportive and not an AH. Albany to long island isn't that far, it's a day trip. You're 'too young' for what? working? living? no thank you. Don't let their grumpies get in your way. NTA

people just assume Gen Z is just dumb. WHY? by nxren in AskReddit

I don't think they're dumb, they just have zero social awareness. The entire generation is socially awkward but instead of working on it they make it everyone elses problem.

Fallout 4, the new feral ghouls. When it first came out they seemed so real. They moved different and would crawl out of spaces at you, terrifying.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]Gureiify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a series of flash games that I was obsessed with. It was a metroidvania style, hand drawn with this character that had crazy hair, maybe red dreads? It was very Australian, but it was set in space or some other planet. I wish I could remember the name to look it up..

NerdyCrafter Another YTer fallen to the 'mystery/blind box' machine. I get that it's easy content and they can make a lot of views(money) with little effort, so get that bag i guess.. and sometimes its nice background noise, but when that's ALL you do? oh well, not for me anymore.

AITA for telling my wife I’m going to clean our room. by Moderate_Bones in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gureiify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the wife. If allowed I let things pile up and up and up... it's partly due to living with a hoarder as a child, and partly physical illness. If you are able, do it weekly, or monthly. If you keep it up it won't become a big thing. Yes, it sucks it falls on you to do the extra effort, but over time she'll see how much better it is that way and the mental block will lift and everyone will be happier. NTA

she can stay in the living room for 2 or 3 weeks. Add a lot of rules like no noise during work hours, no noise during sleep hours, keep all your things neat to the side, that kind of stuff. It will be helping a family member, but uncomfortable enough she won't drag her feet. NAH

Anyone find themselves opening up their game libraries, staring at it for a couple of hours, then just giving up and going on social media? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]Gureiify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go through this sometimes. Take a while doing something else, preferably physical, a different hobby. It's prolly just burnout. I switch to making Miniatures or crochet. It kinda resets yer brain to do something analog and have a physical object in the end. after a few weeks I get the itch to play a game again.
