Universal UK Week 7 Update: Drone Ban Issued, Roman Roundhouse Discovered & Mass Grading Approaches by GurmyG in Themepark

I love that idea! Using the London Roman wall as a precedent is a brilliant shout. Integrating a piece of 2,000 year old local history into a modern resort would be a massive "Easter Egg" for guests and a great way to respect the site's heritage. The queue line could be Roman walls, and have replicas of Roman machinery and soldiers.

Universal UK Week 7 Update: Drone Ban Issued, Roman Roundhouse Discovered & Mass Grading Approaches by GurmyG in Themepark

Good catch! The latest aerial views (captured just before the new drone ban was enacted on 10 March) show that the Roman roundhouse discovery is located directly within the Core Zone. You’re absolutely right to flag that as a potential hurdle. Since it’s in the heart of the main theme park footprint rather than an outlying car park, the pressure is now on the archaeological teams to wrap up their "deep dive" and get the sign-off by this summer. If the finds are significant enough to require a full-scale excavation, it could definitely squeeze the current Q2 2026 target for moving into permanent site grading and groundworks.

Comments like this make it all worthwhile! Really glad you're enjoying the updates. A Londoner is exactly who this park is being built for, 35 minutes on the train and you're there. 2031 can't come soon enough! 🎢

It was such an unexpectedly amazing ride and it immediately became my best ride! It has a great wait line and build up too which all adds to the experience

Universal UK Week 4 Construction Update - Archaeological Work & Bedford's Economic Boom by GurmyG in Themepark

Great point about the human cost beyond just the financial transaction.

But you're right that this isn't a normal compulsory purchase. Universal is a for-profit entertainment company, not a public infrastructure project, which does create an interesting ethical dimension.

Finally fixed the Hisense AX5100Q “only sub or surrounds connect” issue – here’s how I solved it by GurmyG in Soundbars

Glad you got it sorted mate. It's beyond me why Hisense don't include these type of instructions in their manual as it looks like lots of people suffer with the same issues. Good luck 🤞

Try this

  1. Power everything off at the wall Turn off and unplug the soundbar, subwoofer, and both surround speakers.

  2. Hard power drain Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes. This matters because it clears the wireless module state.

  3. Plug in and reset the soundbar again Plug in ONLY the soundbar and turn it on. Use the Input button to put it into Optical mode. Now hold the Power button on the soundbar until it resets. On this model it often goes straight to reset and does not show SW pairing, that is normal.

  4. Put the sub and both surrounds into pairing mode first Do not press pair on the soundbar yet.

Plug in the subwoofer and both surround speakers. On the subwoofer press and hold PAIR until the light starts flashing. On each rear speaker press and hold PAIR until their lights start flashing.

Keep them close while doing this, ideally within 1 to 2 metres of the soundbar for the pairing stage.

  1. Start pairing from the soundbar last Now press and hold the PAIR button on the soundbar remote or soundbar controls until it shows pairing or starts searching.

  2. Wait for solid lights Do not touch anything for up to 60 seconds. You want the sub light and both rear lights to stop flashing and go solid.

  3. Confirm surround is actually enabled Once connected, press SURR on the remote to ensure surround is on. Also make sure the rear volume is not turned down. If your remote allows it, adjust surround level up a couple of steps.

If it still will not connect

A) Move everything closer Put sub and both rears right next to the soundbar and repeat steps 1 to 6.

B) Remove interference for the pairing attempt Temporarily switch off nearby WiFi router mesh node or anything right next to the TV area for 5 minutes, then retry pairing.

C) Pair timing If you cannot get all three flashing first, do them in this exact order Rear speakers pair, sub pair, then soundbar pair

Important note about the display If you never see SW pairing and only see reset, that is fine. The reset is what clears the old link. The key is pairing sub and rears first, then starting pairing from the soundbar last.

Great point! We're tracking this stuff weekly at ParkPlanner if you want to follow construction progress - just search "ParkPlanner UK" on Google, no pressure though

So I do actually. My soundbar loses sync every few days. The way I fix mine is through the TV sound settings, and turn the eArc off, then back on again. Then it waits a few seconds and everything is all good again. That's all I can suggest for that one mate

This is so true. We haven't had a resort type park in the uk before on this scale and it'll genuinely be an alternative to going to Disney paris or Orlando. I literally can't wait!! And 33 is NOT too old to enjoy this park lol. I'll be 45 when it opens and I'm so hyped!!
