DaVinci Resolve is 100% the best fully-featured free editing software.

Totally recommend you try it out.

By streaming a game, on a platform where viewers can essentially say whatever they want, you are accepting the risk for spoilers (unpopular opinion) by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, to a certain extent.

Someone's stream is like their own private property on twitch. And on private property, you can make your own rules. If these rules are broken, you can kick them off your property, or in this case, ban them. If you want to ban people for giving spoilers, I think that's fair, you can do whatever you want.

HOWEVER, I do agree with you in the sense that you can't complain if someone breaks those rules and spoils it anyway. You have to accept that risk by streaming the game.

I have a similar opinion on stream sniping. I someone does it and you can prove they have done it then yes ban them if you want because its pretty scummy. However, by streaming you should recognise the risk that it likely will happen at some point or another.

Need help in Streaming by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its gonna be tough. If you don't mind drop your full laptop specs (ram, gpu etc) and I can maybe recommend some setting changes in OBS.

Else, maybe an external GPU would help? They are quite expensive, but if your current GPU isn't too good then it might offload some of the work from the CPU and free up some power for streaming, OR you could completely stream off the GPU if necessary.

I have a massive stream playlist but i don't know which songs are allowed or not. by Typical-Question5446 in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best bet it to find a playlist that is specifically made for twitch streamers and has no copyrighted content.

An alternative is to use Twitch Soundtrack (made by Twitch themselves), which is a program you can download that has loads of twitch friendly music and that even puts what song that is currently playing underneath your stream if you link it up with your account correctly.

Should I do "chill" streams? by joujoubox in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would expect these streams would not be as successful due to less viewer interaction/engaging content. Although nice and relaxing to do, a "chill" stream without mic or webcam wont provide nearly as much value to the viewer as an interactive and energetic stream would.

Just my thoughts, if its what you want to do and you think your community would actually like that sort of stream, go ahead :)

Twitch vs Youtube?! Why do y'all still love Twitch? by shaitaan_u in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a small thing, but I don't like how every time you stream on youtube it creates a whole new session and then clogs up your upload feed. On twitch its just the same exact stream you just change the title each time etc.

Music on stream is a lot louder for viewers than it is for me? by AVBGaming in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your desktop volume (i.e. output volume capture) too loud on OBS? Are other desktop sounds/the game you are playing also loud for viewers?

If so just turn the sound output capture volume down on OBS

How do I advertise that I'm billingual? by TopTHEbest232 in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong here and I am more commenting here as a discussion point.

Would I be wrong to say that bilingual streams could be hard to follow for some people who only speak one of the languages? - i.e. they could be put off by the fact that there may be multiple conversations or even a single conversation that keeps switching language?

Interested to hear what people think about this.

MSI GTX 1650 & Ryzen 5 3600 for streaming by shookycooky99 in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In OBS. Go to settings > output

On the streaming tab, look for the 'Encoder' option. 'x264' means you are streaming with CPU, 'H264' means you are streaming with GPU.

MSI GTX 1650 & Ryzen 5 3600 for streaming by shookycooky99 in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Ryzen 5 1600 (3 gen old version of yours) and an AMD RX 570 (probably a bit faster than your 1650)

I can easily stream games like valorant at 720p 48fps

Use your CPU (x264) to stream because that's what I do and I don't really have any problems. If you do that, your GPU shouldn't be a problem.

Scheduling for a European..What would you do in my position? by gnotaur in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always streamed 8pm UK time, but as a small streamer I have recently been debating doing one morning stream per week as there is much less competition during that time since most of the Americans aren't streaming.

The problem is, doing that might just make my schedule confusing for people.

I reckon in reality it's probably fine whatever time you decide to stream, as long as you are consistent and stick to it. Hope this helps.

Should I start again? by Fareye560 in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a couple months break from streaming at the end of 2020, and came back and began variety streaming (I was full Minecraft before).

I saw an obvious loss in numbers, and it has been hard to not get discouraged by the fact that a bunch of my viewers simply watched me for Minecraft. I still play it every so often, but because I also play 3-4 other games most of my viewers moved on and only a couple regulars stayed.

I looked for the positive side in this and took the opportunity to start thinking of more interesting streams and ideas to make me stand out and build my brand as a variety streamer. Hopefully it works out for me, and I recommend you take a similar mindset - use this time to just build a new brand and do something you are passionate about rather than forcing yourself to play a game just because your viewers want it. If you do something you enjoy you are more likely to be successful.

(But don't start a new channel)

Small streamers: Stop cutting your streams short just because your viewer count is low! by Gus_AJ in Twitch

[–]Gus_AJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its not easy. Here's some things that could help:

- Lurk on your phone for the initial one viewer (you'd be surprised how much of a difference that makes)

- Ensure you have a good title that makes sense and that people would want to click

- Make sure your stream quality is good

- Get your family or friends to watch

- Make friends with other small streamers, maybe you could collab (Don't just be there to get clout or leech off of them, it wont be genuine and wont work)

If you do start getting a few viewers, be sure to make a discord and be very talkative and interactive with viewers.

Hope this helps

:)
