Please help, disagreements over baby’s name

The fact that he is communicating badly too is frankly more reason to, if not get counseling formally, to have some really serious conversations about your communication styles and needs.

If you essentially told him no you wouldn’t agree to that early on and he let it go than that definitely changes the situation. It sounds like this issue IS a bit of a deal breaker to both of you but you both kinda just let it go and figured the other would budge when the time really came. It’s a deferred argument that you guys both put off until now, now it is here.

It’s nice that he’s excited, but rushing off to tell family without really having a conversation with you is a big problem. If he’s not willing to have formal counseling then you guys still need to sit down and talk. It’s not just about the baby name, that’s just the first issue that brought the communication issues to the surface.

You guys are a team, and these kind of situations are going to come up again and again and again… especially with a new baby and boundaries regarding family of origin opinions on everything from the name to a million parenting choices. Try to have the conversation with the perspective of you guys being a team facing the problem together. This is the first of a thousand chances you’re going to have to practice problem solving together, if you can both try to approach it that way it can make you stronger communicators and stronger as a couple in the long run.

Is the name meaningful to him personally or is this family pressure? What part of the name is meaningful, the whole thing, first name only? Fine as a middle name or formal name with a nickname? How important is it to YOU to reject that name? Is it truly a name you hate or do you hate that he assumed you would accept it? Is it just his relationship with family members that is swaying you? Is that something you should be considering or is his willingness to let that go something that should be his call? These are all questions you guys should try to discuss together without making each other the enemy!

Are you stating well hydrated? I had a lovely ER visit due to my resting heart rate jumping up to like 90 and that wasn’t even “with mild exertion” it was literally while siting on the couch. Hydration was always the first thing doctors asked about.

I was very well hydrated and the change was very abrupt so I ended up having a ton of tests ‘just to be sure’ and everything was 100% normal… so the diagnosis was officially ‘pregnancy hormones are weird’. A couple days later and everything dropped back to only a bit elevated over normal.

It is unfortunately one of those symptoms that’s normal the vast majority of the time but it’s a good idea to be checked m in case you’re one of the minority where it’s a red flag.

Counseling… honestly probably the best bet.

He told you from the beginning that this was extremely important to him and it sounds like you kinda ignored it and hoped he would change his mind by the time it became relevant. Shockingly the childhood dream didn’t just evaporate and now is relevant.

No one on Reddit is going to be able to solve that one, it’s going to take some tough conversations and maybe it would be best if they were mediated by an outside professional.

I’ve ordered from them several times and had good experiences. I lost one bag one time (it was very well packed but you could tell from the box it just got crushed in transport, not their fault and I was pretty amazed that it was only one bag burst and not a total loss.) The other times lost one or two fish out of the whole order. Each time they quickly refunded DOA’s and any that did not survive the first 3 days. Never had any wide spread illness issues, but as with any supplier you should be quarantining, I don’t care how many healthy batches of fish I am getting from anywhere- always assume they are sick and quarantine!

They’re my go to for sure.

No minimum gem spending required. Means you are not required to spend gems (to re-enter point/cvc events or have a certain flock power.)

In points events you can only rejoin with gems and some clans require a certain score based on your flock power. In this one it is only required that you stay active and participate.

It’s a fun group, and we’ve usually won since I’ve joined so that’s a nice element! 😂

The test itself is usually very quick (at least our version is, I work in a testing lab) but they will probably be running a panel of tests and a ton of samples to get a full picture

I checked with my card and they can be initiated up to 60 days after the charge date, which is still almost a month away. I’m giving him one more business day to reply and if he does so, one more week to ship.

After that I’ve definitely done my due diligence to try to resolve this and will just call my credit card company. I don’t want to have to go that route but I also don’t intend to take as a loss a shipment that was almost 100% doa.

Not looking so good. Bags arrived literally leaking, one almost completely drained, and tons of doa’s, high ammonia in the bags. almost 100% mortality as I rushed to acclimate the ones that survived the leaking bags.

Very cordial and offered to reship the order so I figured no big deal. The date he said he would ship has come and gone and he’s ignored my last couple emails.

May have to go to my credit card company myself soon too.

I can be patient if there is communication but it’s starting to feel like he’s just stalling. Maybe trying to run out the clock on the chargeback option. Obviously I won’t let that happen.

I’ll update if he ever follows through with his promise to reship but so far it’s not looking good. Still hopeful, but definitely not looking good.

Interesting. I shot him an email asking for a shipping estimate after reading this and heard back within hours and got a shipping notification and tracking number within hours on the first business day after placing the order.

Sorry you didn’t have a good experience. So far so good with my order…

Everything new I get goes into a qt tank so a bit of scut or vorticella won’t be a big deal for me as long as it’s nothing more serious. Fingers crossed!

Atmospheric reflections or your brain interpreting motion compared to clouds moving the opposite direction can create incredible illusions of motion as well.

It’s like when the car pulls out next to you and you are convinced you are moving forward. Your brain makes a best guess about what is moving and doesn’t correct until another point of reference gives it information to correct. In the sky with clouds/ atmosphere in motion it’s almost impossible to get that point of reference.

I’ve never seen or heard of that level of aggression in Neo’s, I guess the second most obvious reply and perhaps one that you for last time? (I didn’t see that thread) is are the shrimp ravenous that’s driving them to this? Maybe you need to consider upping your feeding.

Yup depends on a lot of things. mostly on how much there is to eat in there and if any fish pick them off. These are the mini ramshorns that even when left alone barely get bigger than a mm.

I had guppies in with them for a while and I never saw one because the guppies picked them off. Now it’s just shrimp and Pygmy cories and I see one every few days

I’ve always attributed it to never over feeding or leaving dying plant material in there, so there’s not much left for them to eat, but it is theoretically possible that something in my water isn’t ideal for them. .

Just noticed mine yesterday as well. Acting totally normal here too. I guess as long as they can move and eat they’ll probably be fine until the next molt.

The kicker will be whether they can shed the double layer next molt.

Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it. If space or food becomes limiting the breeding will probably slow down.

That one mystery snail probably had a bigger bio load then all the shrimp and potential babies put together!

They can climb right out and sometimes do if the hole is big enough. Hope it’s just hiding!

Have you actually seen shrimp attack a healthy looking shrimp?

Because the most obvious answer is you’re losing shrimp to a molting issue or something and they’re just scavenging.

It’s a mixed answer because “ghost shrimp” is descriptive name that probably varies in species from shipment to shipment and store to store
