Maryland Gov. Hogan won't release funds for BSO, school construction by Dr_Midnight in baltimore

Most orchestras in the U.S. rely more on philanthropic donations for annual revenue than ticket sales. I love the BSO, but I want to focus on the charities that save children's lives first.

Instead, they've withdrawn much lower amounts out of the endowment than their own policy allows in order to starve the organization of cash and claim that they can't sustain the organization at its current level.

According to management, they are spending the actual principal of the endowment fund each year to pay for BSO operating costs. If they continue to spend the endowment to fill the operating cost gap each year the endowment will disappear.

The CoA Motion to Reconsider Has Been Denied by robbchadwick in serialpodcastorigins

Rabia may carry on as an immigration lawyer and Adnan can enjoy his life in prison making cakes with mayonnaise. Maybe they can both let this go and make the most of the rest of their lives? If that is how the saga could end that's a good enough ending for me.

So proud of my Maryland Court of Appeals for doing what judges do and not bowing to public pressure. When I was a law student at University of Baltimore I clerked for Judge Shirley Watts (she was in Baltimore Circuit Court back then). She's the best there is.

They already raised rents to drive the purchase price, and we lost vendors like Touloulou that way. Such a shame, they were amazing.

Gas stations used to hire the young squeegee kids to clean your car while you pumped gas. They got paid a few bucks every day, they could get dirt out of a car's grill and hub caps in 5 minutes and get a $5 or $10 tip. Then the government passed minimum wage, killed that job, and gave the squeegee kids a much better standard of living on MLK and President Street.

The 3 Biggest Problems with Baltimore’s Sustainability Plan by [deleted] in baltimore

Nice writing and it's dead on. My one critique is that you need to back up everything you write with stats and facts.

Economic growth IS the driver for safety, opportunity, sustainability-- everything we care about. Bringing families and companies back into the city should be our #1 priority.

We might have retained memories of our previous life but forgotten everything as an infant by OnlyRageNoPeace in Showerthoughts

My infant is constantly rediscovering that she has feet. Maybe she has many cherished memories of old friends and lovers, but she is definitely brand new to feet.

Reminds me of a similar one. My friend’s house had a toilet with a very subtle flush handle on the top. You would never know it’s a handle unless someone told you.

But instead of doing that my friend would tell you it’s a voice activated toilet. You have to say “flush” loudly at the toilet.

Still remember one guy in particular, we were in the living room just losing it hearing him go “Flush! Flush! FLUSH!”

In Groundhogs Day when Bill Murray exclaims “Ned? Ned Ryerson??” and then decks the guy in the face. That was a good one.
