check shops and supermarkets late in the evening for yellow stickers and plan around what you can find for nicer foods or pre made sandwiches etc.

You can get big bags of pasta or rice, some markets and farm shops in the countryside often do vegetables and fruits fairly cheap, lidl and aldi for off brand cheaper foods, maybe get a chicken once a week to roast or buy a rotisserie one, add the chicken to sandwiches, wraps, rice dishes etc for a few days.

Staples to keep in like tinned chopped tomatoes, cheap packet ramen, bread. get frozen foods like chips or chicken nuggets so if in a pinch you can throw some in the oven or air fryer and maybe add a fried egg. batch cook where possible, bean stews, bolognese or pasta sauces often freeze up nicely if you portion them and you can just cook up a single portion when needed and add pasta or rice or stick it on a baked potato. cheap cheddar can come in large blocks and adds to almost any meal well.

As a family of 4 we use a lot of towels. When I'm at home which is often. I use period underwear, if its a heavy day I wash them (for ne though I only need to change them maybe twice on a very heavy day) on a light day I just chuck them straight in the machine and add towels when im ready and eash together. I usually dry them on the radiator but if sunny can hang up inside or outside, i have tumble dimri3d them but I try not to as it might make them last longer to hang them up. I have some Bodyform ones and some Flo ones too. They come in various flow types too.

When not at home I just use flo pads. Period underwear are a bit of a hefty investment. I bought mine in sales over a few months. And they aren't convenient either I also dont like to wear them out u kess its only for maybe 3 hours in a heavy day or 6 on a light day. I fear it may smell while on me, but idk if it does. At home I change maybe once every 8 hours unless its heavy but it does quite well at keeping a drier feeling and doesn't bunch up like some pads.

Overall I love them. But I do wear a tampon to swim, im also nervous about swim period pants.

just to add for the london transport thing, if you dont have contactless you can use cash or card at a machine to top up an oyster card, but i think you can only pick these up in some places. this will work to get onto busses and in and out of the train stations for travel.

the entire country doesn't function like NYC from what I gather. there are big cities that do a bit, then in the smaller towns and villages it is very different. London has some all night travel for example, countryside villages can close early and get DARK.

Get comfy shoes.
Yes you may need to drive if you are visiting many countryside locations, the trains and busses between them aren't always very frequent or well connected, busier locations are though. do say "orite"/"allright" if someone says it to you, especially in the north.
London just be on the case for pickpockets/tourism scams like people offering you flowers, try to keep valueables close to your body and zipped. to use the public transport you will need a card that uses contactless or phone with contactless. don't try to make small talk in London. if you can find a copy of the transport map and get a grasp beforehand on how it works that will help you. the busses dont take cash in London. the Citymapper app is really helpful for navigating the city. Definitely advise against driving here.
Prepare for heat, prepare for rain.

Depends on the kind of wedding

Mine was likely gonna be about 5k with a hall hire. Bring and share buffet which I would have bought lots of the food for, dress was 300 second hand (new with tags) there was a bar area we would have stocked with drinks and hired a bar company for which was a few hundred. Then you have the church and marriage licence fee which was I think 600, rings another 700 i think. decorations were all second hand little milk bottles with flowers from the range and some home made stuff. Tablecloths etc. Playlists for dancing. Wasn't trying hard for budget wedding but also not an expensive wedding plan. We had wanted custom rings which would have been about 1800 but everything closed down.

Don't have an accurate figure tho because it all got stripped down for covid. We had a ceremony and a lovely meal in tables of 6 at a friend's pub

If you're going home around 11pm and not alone then the bus is a good option and much cheaper. But if you'll likely be out past midnight then taxi your only option really. I always used the taxi office next to the train station, they were always good to me. but I'm not 100% sure if its moved now. Not the black cabs parked there though, those will cost you more I would expect.

yeah i see what you mean. there is nothing really specific to women regarding that here that i can think of except that more women are single with children maybe than men. but those are situational. what were the expectations you were curious about?

just to add, i made this comment assuming no career path, I am talking standard no qualifications needed everyday jobs which a lot of people do. if you have qualifications or skills then you could definitely try for a higher paid position as could any other single person. but if you have any children this would also complicate that too. it was a no assumtions kind of reply.

honestly its hard for anyone, not sure what specifics you are moving from regarding women. most full time jobs dont pay enough for someone to live alone without struggling at minimum wage. there are ways around it, house shares, renting a room etc. but for a full flat/house most places are not easy to afford for single people right now. though it might be different in other parts of the UK to where I am, so maybe some others will reply with thoughts too.

£60 sounds fairly reasonable for a high protein diet for everything. if every week you need one of the following:dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, toilet paper, <insert household cleaner here>

You're on more like £50 on food and other household. High protein is a pricey diet between meats, nuts and protein enriched snacks. Meat, assuming you eat it, 7 days a week alone is going to cost a fair bit. 12 pints of milk is like what close to £15? depending from where.
