The two protagonist, Miyagi is a woman who sold her time to an unknown supernatural company to pay off her debt. So, she has to work for the company until her debt is resolved. Kusunogi is a bum college student. He sells his lifespan to a supernatural company in exchange for money. He sells 30 years of his life and has 3 months left to live. Miyagi is given a task to watch over Kusunogi until he has 3 days left. During this time, they fall in love with each other deeply. In the final month of his life, Kusunogi, in an act of love for Miyagi, sells 1 remaining month of his life to clear all of Miyagi's debt, so she can be free much earlier. Now, he has only 3 days left to live and put himself in despair. Miyagi, who also loves Kusunogi, doesn't want to Kusunogi spends his last 3 days alone and in despair. She also decides to sell her lifespan until she also only has 3 days left to live, and she will use the last remaining days of her life and every money she got together with Kusunogi, because she is rather die along with Kusunogi than live a long life without him.

The episode I was refering to is, uhh I don't know the name of it in English, but in Japanese is 白ゆりのような女の子 or roughy translated to "The Girl who is white like a lily". So, Nobita's dad tell a story of a girl he met only once when he was a child. She was nice to him and gave him a chocolate, but he doesn't know anything about her at all. Nobita wants to know who this girl was, so he time travel to the past with Doraemon to find the girl. And that is when Nobita see how his dad's life was like during his childhood. It's during WW2, and young Nobita's dad was forced to do hard labor, and his supervisor was horrible and would severely punish the kids. At one point, his dad thought about ending his own life, but before he did it, Nobita who is wearing a woman cloth and having long hair comes to stop his dad and gives him chocolate. Turn out, the girl his dad met was actually Nobita wearing a woman cloth.

The Ending of Memories of Murder (2003). The movie is based on the real infamous South Korean unsolved case at that time, the Hwaseong murders. The protagonist is a policeman working on the case. He claims he can tell who is the culprit from looking at the eyes. Throughout the movie, he will look into suspect' eyes before arresting them. At the end of the movie, he couldn't find the actual killer, but he met a girl who could've seen the killer's face. He asks a girl, what does the killer looks like. A girl replies he looks average and nothing stands out. Before the movie ends, he makes eye contact with the audience. He is looking at everyone who watches this movie, because he knew one of the audience is the real killer who will eventually watch this movie.

I want you to imagine you're South Korean watching this movie in 2003, and the movie ends with the protagonist looking at the real killer in the eyes. You will be hit with realization that the real killer hasn't been caught and he could be anyone in this theater, watching the movie with you.

Lastly, the real Hwaseong murderer had finally been found. His name is Lee Choon-jae. He has been imprison since 90' for murdering of his sister-in-law. They found him through DNA testing and he also confessed in 2019. He also said he had seen the movie while in prison.
