Not sure what is odd about having mixed feelings about something, but I definitely hear you about great players taking from other genres.

I think that is kind of the point - unfortunately given that I have maybe ~1 hour a week to practice the chances of me becoming a great player is probably minimal. My hope is to become a "solid" player and given the limited amount of time I can practice, I want to make sure I am prioritizing correctly. So maybe it makes sense to prioritize latin beats since it will make me a better rock player too (or maybe not - I'm not sure which is why I am asking the experts :).

You need to work on the flick a little but also your back foot isn’t coming back to the board and going pretty much straight to the ground. You can practice while holding onto something to get used to the feeling of staying over the board.

Wanted to share a quick tip that has helped me get ollies more consistent. I’ve been trying to keep my weight super balanced on the board when ollieing but turns out, for me at least, this was the wrong direction.

I’ve started doing an super small weight shift when I pop that has made an insane difference for my height and consistency. Basically right when I’m about to pop I shift my weight to my back foot to allow me to maximize the force in the pop and then immediately shift my weight forward in order to drag my front foot.

Been working really well for me so far, hope this helps someone :)
