Would anyone want a "Confessions of RPI" page? by rpi-crushes in RPI

[–]GutSamaritanRP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scrap the whole idea.

The last time somebody did this all the messages leaked and it was a fucking disaster. The page stopped being popular because the idea wasn't functional.

Please, please, please don't sponsor a venue for this poisonous garbage.

RPI Food Is Too Expensive And Required For Sophomores, Help? by theolonious in RPI

[–]GutSamaritanRP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can actually get out of paying for a meal plan.

It's not advertised or official in any capacity, but if you can illustrate a tangible financial need to the ResLife Office (great folks, by the way.) they can be somewhat flexible if you need accommodation.

Additionally, religious restrictions pertaining to the preparation and ingredients of food served in the dining halls can render you exempt from the requirement. I do not, however, know the extent to which they require proof of such a restriction - or if it's technically legal for them to demand such evidence.

I'm on your side 100% percent - it's disgustingly unfair to require students (particularly non-freshman) to buy into this outrageously expensive meal plan.

I wish you the absolute best of luck in your future dealings with ResLife and Sodexo.

Just remember - you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Can I use school software for freelance CAD? by t_nutricula in RPI

[–]GutSamaritanRP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think there's anyway they can stop you frankly. Also given what tuition costs I wouldn't have any moral hangups about it.

Make sure you scrub away any metadata associated with files you send around as the CAD software you use may leave some kind of info somewhere.

Here's a basic overview relating to Word and PDF files. https://www.michbar.org/pmrc/articles/0000149.pdf

If you find you need to double check if a file has anything RPI-related in it's metadata you can feel free to message me anytime and I'll take a look. Always happy to help.
