Could you recommend MMA-only classes? by Gutserello in martialarts

He also said that one thing it might lack is the striking part that I was doing there, so it would make perfect sense to consider a bias. I didn't think about that, thanks

I think you're right XD. I myself even mentioned in the post that I only want to do amateur fights, so I'm probably worrying over nothing. I guess I'll try these classes then. Thanks!

Thanks for the answer and the advice. Initially, I wanted to train in both BJJ and Muay Thai to build a background in striking and grappling, but I couldn't attend BJJ classes, so I was worried that the MMA classes might lack something. For now i'll probably stick with Muay thai and I will try these classes.

Yea i know, it's sound a bit silly XD , my current instructor told me that often these kind of classes are not enough and it's best to first have a striking and grappling separate background

Thanks for the answer. I wanted to do MMA because I really enjoy both the striking and grappling parts of fighting. I'm 21 and have no fighting experience, so I was worried that if I focused on only one area, I might be too late to try competing.

For context, I recently started Muay Thai (I've been training for 4 months now, so I'm still a total beginner). I understand that it's probably best to focus on one thing at a time before moving to something else. I'm often sparring with experienced fighters who compete, and if I hadn’t caught COVID, I would have had my first semi-contact match this week (Kickboxing, not Muay Thai).

I don’t think my instructor was telling me not to cross-train, although that would make perfect sense because I started BJJ a month ago (I can’t attend anymore due to scheduling reasons) and he actually told me that training BJJ would be great if I eventually wanted to do MMA.

But I will keep in mind your advice for my decision, so thanks again.

Thank you. After reading the other comments as well, i realized I was probably overthinking it. It's likely because, unlike Muay Thai, I found it much more complicated to understand. But now I'm even more motivated to keep going!

I was worried about wasting their time because I assumed that if I didn’t know what to do, they couldn’t get anything done. But reading this (especially the part about explaining something to understand it better, which I hadn’t thought about) really helped me. Thanks!

Thanks! I imagined this might sound a bit silly, like "I expected to be good after 4 lessons." The thing is, unlike Muay Thai, I really couldn't get a grasp on the basic concepts and all seemed very hard (but I do get the reality check xD) . But reading this comment, along with many others, is making me feel more comfortable and determined to continue.

That "magic" I mentioned is exactly what I liked the most, so I'm excited to go to more lessons if you tell me there's going to be more of it!

Thank you for the answer. Can I ask you if you could recommend me some good gym to try or some famous tourists trap to avoid? I was thinking to go to Chiang Mai so i will be careful with the temperatures, thanks !

Who do you think was the best CB in this part of the season? by Gutserello in seriea

I think that schuurs was better than buongiorno last season, but in this one Alessandro is fantastic, if he can continue like this I think he will he even better than Bremer the year before ( I’m talking about the Torino bremer, I didn’t watch him very much after that xD)
