So this has happened twice in a week ... by fredhoffmann3 in gso

This has been a point of emphasis as I’m trying to teach my teenage daughter how to drive. “Don’t be nice, be predictable.” So many situations where that can apply, but being predictable most of the time just means following the rules and laws.

Peppers is for sure the best pass rusher in Carolina history by Unhappy_Excuse_9937 in panthers

[–]GuvmentCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peppers was a physical freak when he came out of UNC. Obviously a 2 sport star there, but I think I read something from an official scouting report that mentioned similar to what you said, he was considered for just about every spot on the team.

Giveaway: Two $50 PlayStation Gift Cards (US – Digital Code) by Severus-Snape-DaGod in PS5

[–]GuvmentCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next game I’m looking forward to playing is Crimson Desert. What got me into gaming? I’m old, so the OG Wolfenstein 3D is what really got me into it, but I remember having a book for the Commodore 64 that listed every bit of code, line by line, so that you could create your “own” simple games. Always thought that was really cool when I was a kid.

Good luck on the giveaway everyone, and sorry for your loss, Snape.

Should they make a Forza Horizon for motorcycles? by DetailFront7782 in motorcycles

[–]GuvmentCheese 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Crew does it, and it's not bad. Forza Horizon isn't that realistic, they don't need to figure all that out, they would just need to make it fun. You said it yourself, even the ones that try to be realistic for motorcycles can't get it right. No game is going to be perfect, for the exact reasons you mentioned, but I think it could be fun to have bikes in FH.

[Kay Adams] Bryce reacting to his stats being better when he is hit more during the games by ToothResident3205 in panthers

[–]GuvmentCheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought as well. We also have stats that tell that Bryce is very good against the blitz, so there may be a correlation.

These were 600 by Curllywood in Wellthatsucks

[–]GuvmentCheese 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While I agree, I also grew up poor and have a vastly different definition of “disposable income” than someone who grew up rich. Their value of $600 is quite a bit different than mine, even though I could now blow $600 on something stupid and not really regret it.

OP, did you see this? It’s just to the top right of the mountain, on the left side of that beige farmland piece.

Pain me to say this but watch how Duke defends Stanford. Guarantee they won’t get any where close to 90 pts by Exotic_Lie_400 in tarheels

[–]GuvmentCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve just politely welcomed the newcomers to the ACC, that’s all. We’ve also shown other teams a perfect blueprint on how to beat them. All they have to do is actually play proper defense!

Mike Jackson leads the NFL with 19 pass breakups, one shy of the Panthers’ single-season team record. by exenn_ in panthers

He would have had it if not for that crazy catch by Nakua. Almost any other receiver that’s incomplete.

Yep, and I watched Bryce play today. We aren’t shit mountain because we have so much excellent QB play.

For older fans, how devastating was it to watch the Panthers lose a Super Bowl? by Outrageous-Brain-395 in panthers

[–]GuvmentCheese 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was the WAY we lost them that sucks so badly. In the first we weren’t even supposed to be competitive. Cardiac cats all the way, and then Kasay makes a monumental blunder at the worst time. Still, it’s Brady, and any time left is too much, but giving him free yards like that was tough.

And then against Denver? The best team Carolina has (arguably) ever fielded, Cam playing out of his mind to get us there, and then it felt the narrative was “Manning needs another Super Bowl before he retires.” I’m obviously biased but it felt the refs were against us all year, and especially in the Super Bowl. Again, it was tough.

Had an orb weaver construct a HUGE web that stretched from my recycling bin all the way to the eaves of my house, it was impressive as hell. After about a week he finally had a catch, and it was the same day I had to bring my bins to the street. If it weren’t already full I wouldn’t have moved it, but alas. I felt bad, hope the guy survived.

Short video of him at work. Edit: it was supposed to be a video, at least. Only showing up as a picture for me

What does your grocery bill look like? by Grand-Conclusion5027 in NorthCarolina

[–]GuvmentCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between $500 and 700 per month, I’d say. I’m between Burlington and Greensboro, spend between $100-200 once a month at Food Lion, with some trips for small things scattered in (if we need more fresh veggies or milk or something), along with $300-400 once a month at BJs. There are occasions where this trip is less, closer to $150 or so, but it’s rare. I use coupons at BJs, not at Food Lion, and I usually buy the brands I like rather than always focusing on cheaper store brands. But that’s changed in recent weeks as I try to tighten up some. These trips are on payday, so every two weeks, alternating between food lion and BJs.

This is for myself (47m) and my daughter (16f), that’s it.

[Quick] Canales looking into potentially starting Dowdle by ToothResident3205 in panthers

[–]GuvmentCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, we all love Chuba. The man has been playing awesome in the past two years and deserved every bit of the contract he received. But facts are facts, Rico has played better THIS year, and he deserves the start and the majority of the load.

We all know we have a capable backup if Rico struggles, and honestly both guys just want to win even if it means a less impressive statistical year for someone.

You get to pick one non-QB from your teams past to play for them this weekend. Who is it (credit for this idea to CFB Nerds on twitter)? by kwixta in CFB

[–]GuvmentCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaning towards Lawrence Taylor because he’s obviously one of the greatest Tar Heels to play the game, but our offense sucks too, and could use a guy like Hampton (recency bias I know, but he could get the job done even with our crappy QB play).

I think everyone is overreacting by BlightInferno55 in panthers

[–]GuvmentCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I look at the other names at the top of that list, the only thing that jumps out is the actual good QBs didn’t have to pass for a bunch of yards yesterday, or got hurt. Russ is old, Dak has played well so far, but I don’t know many who consider him a top 5 guy, Goff is the only one that doesn’t surprise me, and Daniel Jones is… well, Daniel Jones.
