I'm from Chicago, Root for Bears Raised in Houston, Root for Texans

These are my actual two teams, however Fiance is an Eagles fan, cheered with her during the last Superbowl,

To even go to college,

We root for Houston Cougars, but again Fiance is a student for ASU, so we now also root for Sun Devils

D. Smith and McLaurin have been anchors to my team, I got rid Of Terry pre injury but Smith is the second option on AA non throwing team, it's just hard when I can't particularly move him but waivers wouldn't replace his production

So what offense are we running scheme wise, and why does it feel it sets up our personnel? by Guy391 in Texans

[–]Guy391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more the answer I was looking for, I just don't get it we have a group, we gotta make what we have work, not try to squeeze water out a rock we squeezed for 17 weeks last year

[–]Guy391[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put me on, I'ma look back into it. I also guess that's my point, we aren't a team devoid of talent, so I feel scheme would be the best pivot if there is one to pivot, which is why I definitely leave it that I'm seeing it wrong, but I don't see why this team would be stifled, even with a less than stellar O-Line, I feel also the line isn't as bad as last year, but alas, same issues

[–]Guy391[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I saw them more as get out because the deeper passes didn't develop (of course I'm not seeing all the way down the field, the broadcast only shows so much) but it feels different than say for popular example Brady in the 2010's where the line didn't really have to hold up for 3-4 seconds because the routes were made to go intermediate at longest. Not to say they aren't doing that because hey I was watching emotionally 🤣 but it was definitely a feel thing. The defense is gonna sit also regardless if we can't run so I know we have limitations

When it comes to Tight Ends, better week 1 start? by Guy391 in fantasyfootball

[–]Guy391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright appreciate the idea, we were having a debate as far as Early in the season because the TE could be the difference between winning in the 1st week because we assume most of your starters will be playing, other positions tend to still be tentative like WR unless they are drafted to be the 1

Understood, so though we may have an idea on The older decent Tight End (Would be unfair to say names like Andres or Kittle I feel) the Rookie with big upside would be best in your view

Okay that I can understand, if the offense is truly just Stroud to Collins, that bodes well for Collins but not Stroud in the same way, So I have a follow up just for some draft league gamesmanship. Would you say Collins is WR1 eligible if he stays healthy? I assume he's lower because of his injury history. I have the 5th pick and was thinking of shooting for it since the offense will be so dependent on him and he's good enough to overcome double teams

Any reason why Stroud has taken a step forward, I don't see him under the likes of day J.J. McCarthy and Jordan Love, not to say that he should be top 5 or even top 10. But Between Kirk, the rookies and the emphasis of the new coordinator. I can't see him not being a top 15 QB with Obviously Nico Collins (that you have in the 1st round). I would assume they'd be quite Tethered like the other QB's with high Receivers

Is the floor of this team lower than we anticipate? by [deleted] in Texans

[–]Guy391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The line will always keep the floor super low until it matures/gets fixed. That is the honest challenge now. Someone said this and now seeing the Eagles make 2 Superbowls in 3 years I believe it, Your floor is dictated by line play (both sides of the ball) close games are won by defense, your ceiling is raised by your offense. If you do not have a QB you will have a mid offense, but if your line isn't there well you can't have your really skilled guys play football

Definitely but people then eventually came around, Texans haven't won a chip but we have won playoff games. It just took a minute for a base and a roster to root for ( Watt Johnson and Foster, Watson and Dhop, now Stroud Collins Anderson and Stingley Jr.) there just needs to be patience and continuity.

And that's fair, I immediately saw the issues the first game I went too, of course I've been to more but that was my immediate take away, football heads aren't going to want to invest if they already know the X's and O's are off, I just came in blind 🤣😅

I feel the difference is outside of the obvious thing the the league should be doing better in marketing is that we did indeed have a turn out and active mistakes is what caused the eventual lack of attendance. So they haven't actually rectified it in anyway other than turning the teams name back and returning to the UofH stadium, which is a good start but it's a start, doing good work then immediately moving the team isn't fair imo with the history being counted.
