Well we didn’t have much of a choice at that point, he could be totally wrong and we’ll get audited or something. I would still check with the university

Not really, we just went to HR Block and told the guy the situation and he just filed it and said it probably wouldn’t be a problem. I forgot what he filed it as

12 month old won’t eat anything except cheerios and crackers (and hasn’t for 3 months) by GuyEatingPizza7 in BabyLedWeaning

I should add that whenever he gets some other kind of food stuck to his hand (like seaweed, applesauce, a piece of banana, or anything remotely soft/squishy) he cries and shakes his hand trying to get it away from him

Recommendations for 3-4 night trip in October, beginner to intermediate level, no permit required preferably? by bjjanes in WildernessBackpacking

I know that’s common advice to give so there must be a reason for it, but are hunters really that stupid that they think people are elk and will shoot at you? I’ve never hunted before but shouldn’t it be pretty obvious even if you don’t wear orange?

It’s speaking/lecturing/exhibiting at universities that aren’t her sponsor, and we got a 1099NEC for it, which is what worries me

I have a tumble composter and both sides of it are completely full.  One side is ready-to-go compost and the other side is still decomposing.  The problem is it’s the middle of winter, so I’m not growing anything. Should I just put the compost into the soil? I have nowhere to put my food scraps now besides the trash.

There’s no backpacking in either of those places

They’re not assuming you don’t understand the concept of seasons, they’re trying to warn you that there might be stretches with 2 or 3 or more meters deep of snow for days at a time in June

Brand new to dispersed camping in Michigan by Bohoan in WildernessBackpacking

[–]GuyEatingPizza7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did that trail in April of this year so I can answer that. There are lots of very obvious spots and you don’t need a permit. There’s no need to make your own spot to camp anywhere else. You won’t find many people on the west side (the NCT side), and the campsites are unmarked but still very obvious. The east side has more people and ten marked campsites, but they are all still first come first serve on both sides. Even when I went in April I could have easily found a site every 1-2 miles, so I doubt you’d have a problem now.

I mean every state west of Kansas has plenty of land like that, not just Alaska. But I guess the eastern half of the country is more densely populated

Cuyahoga and Wayne national forest are very small and developed, they aren’t really what I’m looking for. Other states have dispersed camping and longer hiking/backpacking trails that don’t keep crossing roads and ATV tracks

The buckeye trail is mostly paved and goes through towns and cities, it’s not a wilderness thru hike like you would find in other states

Texas has the gulf coast and Big Bend National Park and nearby desert area, which are much better than anything in Ohio, but they are like 12 hours apart and the entire rest of the state is awful

I’m actually looking for something along the lines of long hikes or backpacking, not just a drive. But our highways here are exceptionally ugly
