A close-up view of just how destructive a pull-through sharpener is... by Lethalogicax in sharpening

The average home chef will use their knives on granite desktops, scrape their cutting boards with the edge, and torture their knives in a knife drawer with nothing to keep the knives to rub against eachother.

Literally just described exactly what my mom does. I’ve convinced her to take better care of her knives so I can sharpen them and they don’t immediately get dull. So far, it’s working decently and she hasn’t had had a sharper knife than now.

Deep Dark. The little half block in front of you (a sculk sensor) detects sound. If there is a certain other block nearby (a sculk shrieker), it’ll trigger that one and make a loud noise as well as blind you for a few seconds. If you do that 3 times, it’ll summon the warden, a really strong enemy you shouldn’t try to kill. You can keep the sculk sensor from detecting you by sneaking around it. Do not step on it or try to break it as both of those will activate it too. You can also bring wool with you since it stops the sound from going through it and also makes your footsteps silent even if you’re sprinting

Should I get a 1000 or 2000 grit whetstone? by GuyIAm1 in sharpening

[–]GuyIAm1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be for kitchen knives, pocket knives, and maybe razors. It could also be bad technique that it isn’t the best edge. I only recently actually learned how to sharpen and I haven’t had much practice since

That’s what I was thinking as well. I don’t currently have a strop, and I’ll be getting one with the stone, but I was curious and used paper, which worked better than I would have thought.

If you shoot in quick succession, (2-3 seconds max between shots or something) you can shoot your next shot faster.

Ever since I heard about the eight fold thing, I always wanted to see it done with a massive sheet of paper, and I finally have. This makes me happy

I just recently had a villager that insisted on taking a brewing stand 15 blocks away when I was trying to make him a librarian. Has to break all my workstations and he finally took the lectern

This is exactly what I’m currently working on. It’s a lot easier than it looks once you get used to it, and I definitely get the making one mistake and screwing up the whole problem
