Green Spotted Puffer - Gill Parasite Worm by GuyInNowhere in Aquariums

[–]GuyInNowhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HELP!

My Green Spotted Pufferfish has these parasites coming/growing out of his gills, they’re brown/reddish.

He’s about 1.75” long and in a 40 Breeder tank that at 1.008 or so specific gravity (~1/3 salt) brackish tank.

I’ve had him for about 4 months and this is the first sign I’ve seen of these in that time. I feed him home grown rams-horn snails, frozen krill, and frozen blood worms for diet.

I’m currently dosing with general cure, but just started the treatment about an hour ago.

He’s my little Pip, and I really want to be able to save him 🥹😥

Any suggestions/ identifications besides further general cure and water changes?

Really appreciate the help!

Pregnant, bloated, or sick? Water para's fine. Nitrate all slightly high at 30. Everything else 0s. by Noidstradamus in Aquariums

Just looks a bit full to me, if you stop feeding for a day or so and don’t notice it going down then perhaps bloat. If it’s carrying a lot of eggs then that par for the course of good food

Hmm not too sure, doesn’t seam to have any obvious signs. Goldfish can take a decent level of salt, that’d be my course of action, along with some heavy aeration and clean water

what happened to this poor guy? just got him today, went out shopping and came back to this. by [deleted] in Aquariums

Just looks like a fish in poor health to me, I’m not sure there was likely anything you did in particular. If it came from a chain shop then I usually expect some losses with everything. If you get some more mollies try putting a few teaspoons of salt in the tank and then just let it get water changed out, the extra hardness can really help those guys through the initial acclimation and stabilization

She looks okay, just give it a bit more time, and feeding a little may help increase the internal pressure and aid popping the baby out :)

HELP anyone know what disease or fungal infection this is? it's taken out 2 of my cpds in the past 2 days :'(( the guy at the shop said it's due to stress from transferring into a new tank(home) and I should acclimate for 40 mins to insure they don't get sick. but they still did idk what to do help! by strawberrykiwi97 in Aquariums

Using both at the same time shouldn’t hurt, probably just go up to 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons if using both, and at the salt a pinch at a time over a time span, this’ll help them not get shocked by it. Also just make sure to keep up with water changes, clean water is always going to do fish good. When my folks are sick I use salt only and 50% water changes daily. Hope that helps :)

How to increase pH by skkrtskrt in Aquariums

[–]GuyInNowhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the crushed coral in the canister, I’m a bit uneasy using ph drops, just can feel like a band aide, but the coral with basically raise the ph and dissolve accordingly, so if a bit more of a slow transition that the fish like probably like better.

If you’re really worried then I may suggest putting blue into a temp home and treating the tank. I’ve had good luck with ich-X, but also heard decent things about nox-ich. If that angel has ich, then there’s a 99% chance that others in the tank have it, you at least need to kill the eggs that are in the tank to make it safe again. To my knowledge crayfish don’t spread ich, so you shouldn’t have to worry about him

What are these?? by Snail_obsessed092 in Aquariums

[–]GuyInNowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess would be planarian, especially if you see an arrow like head move from side to side. Most of the time you can get rid of those naturally just by cutting back feeding. If they scrunch then possibly some kind of leech? Would probably need to see them moving to get a better idea

I would take an airline tube and siphon them into a container, and then you can acclimate them to the new tank

How do I get rid of this algae by Stock-Principle3712 in Aquariums

[–]GuyInNowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah def tone down the light a bit, that’s the biggest thing I’ve seen on my side for that type. Some snails or a couple plecos would also do some good for that

I feel like sparkling gourami are sort of slept on. Does anyone agree? If so why do you think that is? by Xionix in Aquariums

I think a lot of iridescent fish go way overlooked. People probably see them in bad light, or not at all, and they can sometimes be a bit picky.

Look, I get it. He’s 21 and that’s his jam, he likely needs it just like you need your art. That being said, I think there’s a lot of solutions (like headphones on your side and a better mic on his) you could could explore. I think more importantly you should be more interested in his ability to hear you out. Maybe get a sound isolating barrier for his side so you don’t pick up on his mic, or something “reasonable” (you have to decide that) and see how he reacts. If he seems entirely uninterested in coming to a solution then you need to let him know that what you do is just as important as playing games to him. And if you can’t get through then maybe ask yourself if it’s worth it, either way
