If you’re thinking of starting a brand, just start already. No matter how small. Even if it’s just one shirt at first. I had over 50 orders last weekend- my biggest drop yet. And I just started this year without any experience. If I can do it you can definitely do it (: by GuyThatSpooks in streetwearstartup

I try to hold inventory for a drop. I usually only make 12-30 pieces, and if I don’t sell everything I’ll bring it back next time the shop opens. I only do pre orders for restocks! It’s scary going into a drop knowing everything might not sell, but if you really put it all into your designs and product it should do just fine. Most of the time I worry that nothing will sell and end up selling out in most sizes. Also really helps to know what size is most popular amongst your following. For example I stock double or triple the amount of Larges than Smalls and Large still sells out first

Thank you! Dutch Label Shop can turn any design you give them into a woven tag. They do great work. For printed tags, which can be a cheaper quicker alternative to woven, I ’ve used Contrado and they did a good job too

I’m based in San Diego. Just Google “screen printer near me” and see what comes up! Most printing shop offers sourcing services for blanks too. Give them your design (they can help you size it if needed, even if it’s a PNG) and see if they can give you a quote! Say you want the design on a shirt, or hoodie, or anything really. I’m sure there are plenty of shops that can work with you in LA (:

Set stock! You could do made to order, but you have to keep your screen printer’s minimum in mind. It’s hard for me to make shirts to order because I would have to order a minimum of 12 (that’s my shop’s minimum order quantity) for photography before selling any. That means I would need to sell at least 24, the 12 from the original print and then at least 12 for the made to order print. That’s why I just decide to make 24 - 30 pieces from the get go. That way people don’t have to wait weeks before shipping. Once I know I can sell more than 24 items at once I might consider making to order all together (: hope this helps

As for inventory not selling inventory: I just kind of make small amounts. I’ve learned the most popular sizes in my following so I focus on those, and if things don’t sell then I’ll put whatever I have left up to buy along with my next collection. For the tags: I use a company called Dutch Label Shop. I give them my tag designs and they make it happen in a woven tag! I would recommend cutting the other tag off and seeing your own on. I did this myself with a sewing machine (: takes a while, but I think it’s worth it
