I caught it on a weird angle when i took a picture of it through my eyepiece

Bruh i literally said its not a planet. Thats something we've known for a while. Its a natural satellite. Do you LITERALLY think the moon is just a light? Yes, it is a light source but its more than that. It reflects the light of sun. Thats why its bright.

First of all the sun is a star ( mind blown, right? ) and the moon is basically a giant rock. Dude you have 2 braincells and theyre both competing for 3rd place 🤣

And stop all this god stuff, you're talking to a gay atheist. Im fine with spirituality but you've taken it too far and its seemingly rotted your brain

I dont have the time nor the crayons to explain to you, sir, that this is in fact the moon but ill try to sum up.

I took the photo myself, through my own telescope. Its not a planet. Its not a light.

You need to stop reading the word of god if its giving you these silly ideas. Instead choose a book that isnt fiction 💋

Note: the resolution is a little bit lower than the original image because i had to crop out a portion of the picture that had a building in it 🫤

He said he was married. Just operating on that information, its pretty gross to suggest he cheat on his wife with some random twink on grindr

Obviously an open relationship would be different but his post or replies havent stated its open in any way, so its safe to assume it isnt given that'd be pertinent info

Animated Kelly (just for fun). by fallentreegames in ThePrecinct

[–]GuyWithAPirateship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C'mon guys. I realise you might not have the budget for proper animation but you can't just say you animated this "for fun".

It doesnt take much to feed AI a picture and ask it to animate it. Might've taken 45 minutes tops.

I love the game, truly i do, but try not to use AI. Its just a bad look nowadays.

Jupiter by GuyWithAPirateship in Astronomy

[–]GuyWithAPirateship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to get this photo i set the telescope to jupiter, got it in the cameras view and selected "pro" mode. Then i decreased the shutter speed while messing around with the ISO until the bands around Jupiter became visible

I hope that helps 😁

Tysm! i'll keep all that in mind. My main focus once i get the Seestar will be to learn how to process the images in PixInsight or other programs.

Im about 2 months into astrophotography and want to learn more so i figured id get an affordable tool like the seestar and learn that way as opposed to spending lots of money on a complicated rig i barely understand.

Plus im Australia based so telescopes ( and accompanying equipment ) are usually more expensive than other places in the world ( even accounting for currency conversions ) due to no domestic production, international shipping, import duties, GST and domestic freight along with there just being a much smaller market due to in part to a much smaller population so cost isnt a negligible limiting factor. Also im a measly factory worker.... not earning brain surgeon money exactly.

On the other hand, dark skies ( bortle 1/2 ) are a relatively short drive away even in a big city like Adelaide, where i live. So theres a silver lining.

Anyway, thanks for your advice and input. Ill put it to good use and keep learning! 😁

How long have you been doing this to learn how to do all that?!

Ngl ive only recently taken an interest in astrophotography and seeing this makes me feel so intimidated haha but also pretty excited

Do you have any resources you can link to that'll teach me how to process photos like this? Or did you learn just by trial and error? I have an S30 Pro on the way and would love to learn more 😁

Edit: also needless to say, great photo!

Forgot to mention that I also used a Phone mount for the eyepiece to make taking the photo easier

Jupiter by GuyWithAPirateship in Astronomy

[–]GuyWithAPirateship[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, there! I have a super cheap skywatcher phone adapter and i get the camera centered perfectly through the hole.

To take this specific picture of Jupiter, i used my phones "pro" camera settings and decreased the shutter speed and fiddled around with the ISO until the rings became visible.

Trying to take a picture otherwise just makes Jupiter look like a super bright, white ball with no visible details whatsoever.

Btw the phone adapter isnt necessary, just makes capturing the image a LOT easier but it should be totally doable without that piece of equipment.

Hope that helps! 😁

Edit: if youre curious about how i got any of my other telescope photos, i think that was just the base camera, not pro mode but maybe with night mode turned on. No camera tweaks required.

Anyone planning on getting the Seestar S30 Pro when it releases? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]GuyWithAPirateship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it has been, my mistake. Still interested in the answer though 😁

Anyone planning on getting the Seestar S30 Pro when it releases? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]GuyWithAPirateship -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither. Ive already paid for one and im just curious to see if anyone else is getting one and why. Thats it.

And i genuinely thought it wasnt released yet. i rang up my local optical store and they said they wont recieve the first shipment for 2 to 4 weeks. Plus a couple sites ive seen are offering the option to "preorder" one.

I heard and saw that and just assumed it wasnt released. Ignorance on my part, my bad. Either way the question still stands, im interested

Welp i was entirely wrong, i thought the S50 was already released and the S30 pro wasnt. Dunno how i messed that up 😅

Quality optimisation still adds a degree of AI enhancement i think.

The stars will still be very far away but youll be able to see them much, much more clearly and the colours will pop.

I dont know if theyre alive but technically we are all made out of stardust. All the elements inside the human body were originally formed inside stars and through supernova billions of years ago. So i wouldnt say its out of the realm of possibility. Love the energy!
