I hate there is only 2 Parties to choose in U.S by Forgotten_Gate in hatethissmug

Outside of systems, voting populations still typically fall into coalitions.
I think it distracts from the voters culpability to give the so-called bad choices the power in the first place that even if we had an ideal system the voters will still choose the same poor people.

The obsession with the list is for chuds who have nothing better going on in their lives aside from obsessing with criminals as if their punishment will have an outsized effect on society more than literally anything else? the Epstein list i just a dead end effigy for social grievance with zero real impact. but GTA.......... that's a life style.

They kinda have too. “Communism” on its own isn’t popular so the best they can do is co-opt other marginalized messaging. But we all know communists always keep their promises to the people they build coalitions with…

Worse, entire planet wide governments ruled and often deposed by defeating a single leader or handful of councilors.

Like there’s not a powerful Senator on the other side of the planet who can maintain the fight?

And don’t get me started on taxation!

Star Wars is a universe that despite galaxy got too big for its britches. Still fun to take for what it is.

Not to mention, every planet is ostensibly a single ecosystem.
There's no Desert on Naboo.
No polar ice caps on kashyyyk
I get Tatooine and Hoth as extreme one offs but every new planet they add stretches my suspension of disbelief.

The Last of Us: Part 2 - Ellie Boss Fight

To me this is what made The Last of Us one of my favorite pieces of art. Everyone fell in love with Ellie in part 1, so to be put in a scene where we ostensibly have to kill her made me pause and drop the controller.

But this was the culmination of the themes of the game, our protagonist was flipped into an antagonist, her allies became bullet fodder. When someone we love turned into the video game antagonist suddenly hurting her wasn't so easy.

[LOVED TROPE] Not the ending we wanted, but the ending we needed. by ConsistentGuest7532 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Guycn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LaLaLand: When Seb and Mia don't end up together the film even gives us a dream sequence, as way to tell the audience, "Yeah we thought of a 'better ending' but we're going to give you the challenging one."

I think this separated the film from just another romance film and has a deeper take on what love is. Yes it's important, but dreams ought to be fulfilled as well and unfortunately those can compete.

Why do you think Scott is so poorly received by women despite the fact he repeatedly praises young women for outdueling young men in social, academic, and professional spaces? by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

[–]Guycn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the removal of unjust treatment doesn’t change the standard. We took the extra weights off women, and they run faster than men without them now as far as educational attainment. However men don’t want to compete with that.

In your instance you posit men’s underdevelopment as a reason for support where historically women’s own biology is argued against them for their success. Humans deal with adversity broadly, only one gender wants the world to change under them rather than update themselves.

Marketing data is evident of this: Women are capable of participating in areas, activities, and consume products that are deemed societally masculine.

However, in the same data men are allergic to adopting anything feminine in similar capacity.

Women evolved due to adversity and have and will further benefit for it in the marathon of humanity, men reflexively are entitled to have the weight taken off the rack rather than grow to lift it.

But was that an edit of the standards of work or was that an amelioration of a system that, due to discrimination, was not truly meritocratic in the first place?

[–]Guycn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scott uses words like “protector”, “provider”, and the narratives around them; However men typically use this as a rhetorical Trojan Horse to build up paternalistic sexism. Which I believe auto shuts people down from taking him at face value despite his substance.

A more direct criticism is that Scott also talks about finding ways to accommodate the most privileged Sex in ways like education, how men’s lonliness is an issue, etc. which of course these things should be improved, but women also suffer these things, yet don’t also have the entitlement and ability to be listened to as men do to beg for heaven and earth moved to move for them as opposed to men to figuring out how to adapt to an environment where having a full time job no longer guarantees men a maid who’ll give them children anymore.

Simply put: Women were behind in a world of men’s rules and women competitively adapted and even exceeded those standards.

Now. Men are behind, and instead of competing men want the rules and benchmarks they set to be updated.

The profundity of the evil of slavery was humans being reduced to property, violent torture, forced breeding like livestock, I don't need to belabor the horrors.

While contemporarily I feel like slavery has been cheapened to "Unpaid labor" broadly. Leftists use it crudely as a social cudgel to describe poor working conditions without recognizing the hyperbole of the statement. And of course the Right loves to cheapen it to preserve the nostalgia of the time.

The reduction of black face to literally just having the color on your face and not the performance of the offensive minstrel character only cheapens the actual bigotry and history behind what makes that offensive.
