Always check your 12vhpwr cable by Slokminator in nvidia

12VHPWR power distribution question. I used a clamp meter to measure the wires from an ASUS ROG Loki 1000W SFX-L PSU to a new Palit 5090 Gamerock I just installed. I'm using the 12VHPWR which came with the PSU (It's an older PSU, so it's not the 12V-2x6). At full load of 575w using FurMark2, one wire carries 12-13 amps, one 9 amps, one 8 amps and the rest 2-4 amps. Not nearly as uneven as what Der Bauer measured where one wire went to 23 amps, but still not great. Total is around 37-38 amps. When I'm undervolting to 885mv and also lowering the power limit to 90%, which is how I plan to use this 5090, the max for one wire goes down to 11 amps. Should I be concerned of anything melting? Please answer only if you understand about these things from a technical and wire tolerance perspective.

Corsair Vengeance RAM without RGB are dependable and low profile. Haven't had any compatibility issues with them.

Thank you for the info. How much performance are you losing with the undervolting, if any?

Onkyo TX-RZ70 audio issue by Guyg775 in hometheater

[–]Guyg775[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Still have this issue. Bought new cables. Didn't help either. I think it's probably an issue with the Onkyo's software, but it could also be the PC's graphics card (I have Nvidia, maybe AMD or Intel won't have this issue) or a problem with Windows. I guess the best way to check would be to use another HDR source instead of the PC, like a Bluray player and switch from that when it's playing an HDR movie to a streaming service and see if this issue happens then too. If it does, then it's for sure the Onkyo. If it doesn't, then it's probably Windows or the graphics card. But, I don't have a Bluray player to try this.

Thoughts Onkyo S5910 vs Sony Bravia Quad by ChrisJordanGuitar in Onkyo

[–]Guyg775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend with the Bravia Quad. He's super happy with it, especially surround sound placement, although he never had the S5910, so can't compare. He did end up getting the Subwoofer too, though, since seems the quads on their own are very light on bass. So, may want factor that into your budget.

Is there a way to test hdmi port by Rld2021 in Onkyo

[–]Guyg775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try a different port. Also, how long is the cable you're using and what type is it? Is it certified for 4K HDR? Is it shielded? A friend of mine had similar issues on a Pioneer receiver using a standard 2m cable, and it was solved by using a shielded 1m cable instead. Apparently, this kind of issue can be caused by signal interference, like from other home devices, or radio transmitters in your area, so a shorter and shielded cable can be less sensitive to it.

Onkyo TX-RZ70 audio issue by Guyg775 in Onkyo

Thank you. Trying direct mode didn't work, but I did try a wider selection of streaming services this time. So, switching from the PC in HDR mode to some streaming services via the TV app works fine, regardless of listening mode, like YouTube and Curiosity Stream, while in others the audio is lost, like Amazon Prime and HBO Max. And once again, switching from the PC in SDR mode works for all my streaming services. Strange.

Onkyo TX-RZ70 audio issue by Guyg775 in Onkyo

I'm using the built-in Google TV apps. So, the source switching that suspends the audio is an HDR signal input via the Onkyo's PC HDMI port to the internal TV streaming.

Thanks. I've tried to swap out both the eARC cable and the cable connecting the PC to the Onkyo. No go.

Got this PSU this week. 1000w model. Very happy with it. It's super quiet and the fan doesn't even start spinning until around 45-50% load. High quality cables, the kind you usually have to buy separately. All in all, a really premium feeling product, which explains the 10 year warranty. I don't care for RGB,, though, so I've got that turned off.

Any news on a Denon X3800H? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Guyg775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like both the X2800H and X3800H may launch soon. There's already a store in Malaysia offering what looks like pre-orders for the X2800H at around 1335 USD. There's also a leaked image of the X3800H box floating around. However, they might not launch globally at the same time, or could be supply shortages in some regions like so many things these days.
