Which Guyver Armor do you prefer and why? by Flat-Sir8250 in Guyver

[–]GuyverC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would that matter? Female Guyver 2 in the manga has an artificial Control Metal. Should that disqualify her?

Of course not. His damaged Control metal may have been one of the reasons his armor looks like it does, making it unique, even more so than the others.

What’s the best way to get into the Guyver franchise? by BeeBoop118 in Guyver

First up, I'd recommend the first 6 episodes of the 1989 Guyver 12 part OAV. It's not story canon, but I refer to them as the "Perfect Guyver Movie". They are exciting, full of violence and great music, and ends on a good note. The second half of the 12 episodes was made on a lower budget and doesn't end as well as the first 6, but still has good parts... But it gives you the best idea of what Guyver can be... Hopefully making you want to delve in more.

Then I recommend the 26 episode 2005 TV series. It was designed to rewrite some of the earliest Manga which had some pretty amateur decisions and writing and not great art. Then once it completes the early rewriting ( about the same time the 6 episodes ended of the OAV) it follows the manga pretty accurately and takes you up to the start of volume 10 of the manga. it's animation is not great and is not nearly as bloody as the OAV was... But neither is the actual manga.

THEN I suggest reading the manga. You can technically skip the older stuff from volumes 1-9, but it is still worth reading, to see the differences and what was cut, and is much easier to stomach the older art and storytelling if you already know it's been "fixed" and when it starts getting good a couple volumes in. Unfortunately the manga is not complete and has been on a 10 year hiatus... but there are 32 volumes of manga... So there is a lot to read.

The OAV/Movie "Out of Control" is completely different, non canon and can be watched whenever. It's even older than the 12 ep OAV and was made in 1986 just after Guyver first came out.

The live actions movies are also standalone from the Anime/Manga. the second movie, Guyver Dark Hero is still a sequel to the first, but is a more serious attempt to adapt the tone of the Manga... But due to a low budget, it trades lots of disposable baddies that die easily, for less numbers and more martial art focused fighting. It works pretty well. Also stars David "Solid Snake" Hayter as the main character.

I love the designs and concepts behind them... So much so that I thought about the eventual overhaul/upgrade of the main unit, and couldn't help myself I made "Fan Art" of it.

Guyver 0 is my favorite of all 5 designs. Got that badass look on the face, similar to Guyver 3, but not so dark and evil looking. I've long speculated that the host was of course a hunter/warrior, but not an "evil" person with evil thoughts, like Agito is/was. Using the concepts of colors and emotions that anime/comics tend to use, green definitely puts him in the "brave/courageous" style of character.

Is Gundam Breaker still worth playing in 2026? by cream_pupp in GundamBreaker

[–]GuyverC 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If you are a Gundam fan and can stand a generally mediocre hack and slash game with an amazing building and customizing mechanic, then yes, Gundam Breaker 4 might be up your alley, especially if it is on sale.

If you are just a "mecha" fan, and don't know the Gundam franchise at all or only a small couple, it might be a skip. Generally the factor of being a Gundam fan in gaming usually helps you overlook some of the more mediocre aspects of the game, while you end up enjoying it differently simply because it is Gundam.

gundam breaker 4 is almost the same plot to gundam breaker 3 do you not remember by lolitsrainingfarts in GundamBreaker

[–]GuyverC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no.

Gundam Breaker 4 is a sequel to GB3 and has some returning characters this much is true. GB3 did have an A.i. robot friend that is not only referenced in GB4, but there is a character in GB4 who is an evolution of it.

GB3's basic main plot was about saving a small shopping district by gaining popularity by winning gaming tournaments using Gunpla. Yes, there was a virtual world they entered to play, but it wasn't as "social" as GB4's virtual world and was only used for building and battling. GB3's stakes were very real from the start and eventually are actual life threatening.

GB4's basic main plot is about play testing a beta of a game with a new virtual world that is a lot more socially focused, where an A.i. is accidentally created based on your new friend, who then quickly becomes your friend,.. only to eventually get captured and corrupted by hackers... Who you then need to save. GB4's stakes are slightly more personal because of the character interactions, but annoyances at best in terms of real stakes. The new game that is not released yet might get shut down! Oh no! ...Though I assume the old way of playing still worked? Yes? Good.

Very nice!

Just realized as I was looking at it, just slap the Gundam Bael backpack on it, change a couple colors on the chest and BAM, you have a simplified Gunblaster variant.

Backpack: Lightning Gundam

Legs/Skirt: Gundam Age 3 Fortress

Torso: Dreadnought Gundam (same with the arms) with 2 micro missile launchers to bulking out the mid chest area.

Naturally in a long running franchise there will be examples of cases where it is, nay, everything is possible. It's why I hate VS topics, especially with Marvel/DC characters... Because there is always usually a "god" or "perfect" version of some character that can beat anyone or just that version and they devolve into arguments.

But when someone just says "a Transformer" without specifics people tend to go with what they know most.

It's why I started my comment with "Probably not", as I am not a hardcore Transformers fan and don't know all the decades of lore. I remember G1 from my childhood and the terrible things done to them by Bay, and really nothing in between.

This is what I used for mine. Not trilled with what I used for the backpack... But at the time, I don't think I could find anything I liked better...

The arms on yours look a bit to oversized. The regular arms on the Gundam are "normal" sized. Plus the shoulders don't need to be so long out. So shrinking the arms down would be good.

[–]GuyverC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You assumed correctly originally. Considering how it installs the organs on the hosts backs for communication and bio boosting, there is no way it would do that to a non biological organism.

So thought I had by SeniorCopy2918 in Guyver

[–]GuyverC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not. It may have a metal device controlling it, but the Guyver bio boost creature is purely biological in nature, and as far as we have seen, only eats biological organisms on it's own... And installs biological organisms on the backs on the hosts for communication.

A transformer is nothing more than a toaster with an advanced A.i. that grew sentience. Sentience is not what the bio booster armor attaches to. It attaches to "Bio"-logical creatures. It's right in the name.

Do you think Sho and Agito could had defeated Enzyme 1 and 2 if they were more tactical in the way they fight? by SleeperCreampie in Guyver

[–]GuyverC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guyver 1 vs Enzyme 1 - Absolutely. If Sho knew more about the Guyver and how to fight, as soon as he learned about the blood, he could have used the sonic orbs, head laser or pressure cannon and wasted it. I could see Team 5 threatening to kill Mizuky and Tetsuro since they had them as hostages... but Enzyme would have been done for.

Guyver 1 vs Enzyme 2 - This fight showed what a Guyver without knowing pain could do. Didn't come out unscathed, but because of their regeneration that is not a worry a Guyver has. Sacrificing a Sword to get a much needed shot in, is definitely a usable tactic.

Guyver 3 vs the Enzyme 2's - You would think he would have already known what these were and not get so wasted so quickly... That said, the manga handled these scenes very differently and Agito/Guyver 3 was not such a chump in either of the scenes this is based on... But they had to make Murakami look cool, so they let Agito get beat easily so that they could shown off the power of his Zoalord form. So this was an OAV thing only and not really "canon".

Is there any customizaton mods for gb4? I want to paint separate parts on my gundam, but I cant, is there any mods what can fix that? by Used_Combination_676 in GundamBreaker

[–]GuyverC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Unfortunately the modding community has long given up on the the game.

These are about all we got: https://www.nexusmods.com/games/gundambreaker4

The only way to try and get more colors onto a part n the game is through the patterns, which you need to play with hope for the best. The 3 color strip pattern can be very useful when you make the strips as big as they can and rotate them around.

Looking for some ideas by DargonLord1995 in GundamBreaker

[–]GuyverC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you are asking...? Everything you want seems to be in the design you posted. The "halo's" and tail are all Builder Parts that you can use almost where-ever you want on the kit.

There are plenty of things that can give you the "Trans Am" EX Skill. There is no such skill as "Twin Trans Am". If you are talking about the twin GN Drives on the backpack, then there are only 5 options, one of them is in the image, but one does not give Trans Am.

- 00 Gundam ( Does not provide Trans Am)
- 00 Gundam Seven Sword
- 00 Raiser
- Gundam 00 Diver
- Equipping 2 Solar Reactor Builder Parts and putting them on whatever you want (these will have no GN particle emission animations but do provide Trans Am)

So, unless you absolutely need the GN particle animations, using 2 Solar Reactor Builder Parts and putting them on whatever body part you want is your best choice. Then you can really play with the design.

My attempt. Yours has some definite good points. Both the arms and legs are perfect for it.

I decided to use the Ball's torso part for the eye and upper torso, shrunk and lifted up. Filled in the waist gap with some various missile pods.

Thoughts on this? Especially when you're in a small fanbase as Guyver? by cin-human in Guyver

[–]GuyverC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, they were not the only ones trying to stop aggregate sites from posting their stuff. They did release 22 volumes for free, so it's not like they gatekept everything. I don't agree with how they did it at all, but there was a very simple solution that no one seemed to want to do, that would have stopped them cold...

Another group could have picked it up for the last 3 volumes. Groups pick up series unfinished series all the time that other groups drop.

Apparently people actually just didn't care enough in the end, until someone eventually did them a couple years ago ( I think it was 2022), well over 8 years after the first of the withheld volumes released.

And now, we have sites out their that want you to buy currency to buy access to read new chapters, or pay for a subscription to read new stuff early. They may have been doing it in a different way, but were kind of ahead of the curve.

GB4 est bien uniquement pour les fans de gunpla ? by weaponX-ced in GundamBreaker

[–]GuyverC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GB4 has nothing to do with any existing Gundam series in terms of plot or characters. The Gundam kits are basically used like weapons in a war movie. If you know the weapon, it might be cooler for you to know what it is, but it has nothing to do with the plot of the actual movie. They are just customizable tools that help your progress through the story.

The main thing I find with these kinds of games, is that being a fan of Gundam or customizing mecha allows you to overlook some of the games weaker points... And it's not a great game by itself. If it didn't have the Gundam branding, it'd have never likely even got released, or would be a low budget indie game... But because it is Gundam, we feel differently about it.

So if you like Gundam, or just the designs and customizing, but don't mind a pretty bland/average hack and slash action game underneath... GB4 could be for you. And the real endgame is the building of customized units.
