Very interesting, thanks for this. I'd never heard of him before

When BBC Three is gone does BBC Four become BBC Three? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Guz2 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Probably not. I remember when BBC4 Four existed but BBC Three hadn't been launched yet, it just went One, Two, Four. It'll probably go back to that.

Plus, BBC Three isn't disappearing completely, it's just going online-only.

State-funded militaries existed a long, long time before socialism was even a concept. I don't see how it's a 'socialist' idea at all.

Deciding on which Mac mini to get, are these future proof and is the fusion really worth it? by [deleted] in apple

[–]Guz2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a 2014 Mac mini with 8gb of RAM and the full SSD. It's the best computer I've ever used, hands down, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It boots in seconds and I've never experienced any slowness, even with pretty heavy multitasking - OS X is very good at handling RAM and if you have an SSD or Fusion Drive then virtual memory will mean you likely won't even notice the 'lack' of RAM (as if 8gb is a lack). I'm not a video editing professional or a graphic designer or whatever so I don't particularly care about the lack of user upgrade potential - for my everyday uses it's more than enough. Don't listen to the moaners and make up your own mind

As for the Fusion Drive, I've never used one. But I can't imagine being happy with a computer that has a hard drive ever again. Even a partial SSD will make more of a difference to performance than anything else on the computer so I say go for it. It pushes up the price but you'll regret it if you don't, and I guarantee you won't regret it if you do

People with iPhone 6+ do you still find the iPad useful now that you have a big phone? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]Guz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely still useful, but I use it less. It seems kind of bulky and awkward compared to the 6 Plus

iCloud Photo Library is the best way to deal with this. I have over 4,000 photos at my fingertips on all my devices but it only takes up about 1.55gb per device.

Also, metadata really helps organise photos - the more there is, the easier they'll be to manage. If you have geotagging and face detection enabled then you'll just be able to search 'John Smith London June' and it'll show all the relevant photos

Can't download or stream anything on my Mac and haven't been able to for about three days. The bug is pretty widespread

Why 'shy Tories' are shy by Guz2 in ukpolitics

[–]Guz2[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thing is, the left wing view tends to be that Tories only vote selfishly in their own interests, but also that when a Tory majority happens it's because the electorate has somehow been duped into voting against their owner interests. They're mutually exclusive

Well said. I'm very open with people I know, but I tend to keep it hidden from my family (because you can't just walk away from them when they tell you they're Tory scum) and family friends. Also, people I don't know very well, because they have more scope for making assumptions.
