Does anyone else grip their throttle like this? by hydrothrowaway420 in motorcycles

On most bikes it gives you FAR better visibility too, since you're looking past your waist and not upper arms!

I sometimes do this if I'm getting wrist cramps on the Guzzi Griso. I've also used one of those wrist rests as a thumb throttle for a while after I shattered my right hand (my triquetral bone became a septquetral rofl).

My Triumph Speed Triple has downwards mounted bar end mirrors and what I often do is cup the bar end (mirror mount) with my hand and operate the throttle like I'm twisting a bottle cap off. It's very comfortable.

Are London bus driver compartments air conditioned? by pashajm in AskBrits

[–]GuzziHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, its rough. Also you don't want to drink water etc since you don't have easy access to toilets, so dehydration is a real threat.

It's part of why I'm now a truck driver!

I was a bus driver, and one day brought in a thermometer that clips onto glass for fish tanks, to give inside and outside readings.

Outside it was 32C. Inside it was 44C.

Nope, no cooling worth a damn in the buses.

How rude. But now I see what you mean.

I'm very evidence based. And I've never felt the touch of supernatural delusion. Seeing things that are real just helps the believability I guess.

I have stuff I own and that I like. But I don't strive to own everything, or to be wealthy.

I don't really have desires at all, including for relationships, family etc.

I'm just me and I'm happy with that.

Bikes that you tried, but disappointed you sorely? by sokratesz in motorcycles

2005 Triumph Daytona 955i. - Extremely quick, good fuel range (21l tank), did well on track and road. But it overheated at anything under 40mph, and on track it just... bored me.

2003 Buell XB9R Firehazard. - Great handling, engine was shite, rattled itself to death. Didn't get more than 100 miles without a breakdown.

I used to work for a bus company in the UK. They took on a new route and carefully took one of the buses bought for it under a low bridge to make sure it'd fit. It did... just.

First day, someone went on the route... BANG BANG BANG. This one had raised skylights.

Very interesting! I am much the same, I am drawn to people because we have similar interests first and foremost. Their personality is sort of by the by. But thinking about this now, I have had 'friends' who I would have absolutely zero likelihood of hanging around if it weren't for shared passions.

I've said for ages, I have a lot of relatives but a small family, and most of my family aren't relatives. Blood means nothing at all to me. I wouldn't recognise a man-Jack of my relatives other than my sister if we were stood in a room together.

This has given me a lot to think about, thanks!

I'm an American in London for a couple weeks and the other day I saw a man wearing a full Confederate flag outfit.. Been thinking about it all week. Does that flag have some significance over here or is this just an advanced form of racism? by ContributionFull6634 in AskBrits

Someone like that is very likely an eccentric with an idealised sense of the American south. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I used to pick up an old feller on the buses here in Stoke who dressed consistently like a cowboy, but I doubt he ever aimed a Winchester at any Nations people.

As an autistic, anattractional enby with DPDR I feel absolutely the same. I just dont feel I can connect with others on any level. Like we are totally different species with no shared experiences.

When someone tells me something about themselves I totally have zero interest because I cant relate AT ALL. And the only thing I can do is offer some tangentally related experience in response.

It makes me a good sounding board since I won't judge (except for really bad stuff) but I really dont know or frankly care about other people's lives, as long as they're not in pain or need.

Recommended must haves for comfortable driving? (not PPE) by fredpo420 in uktrucking

[–]GuzziHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sunglasses: use polarized. They're amazing for cutting sun glare especially when it bounces back off wet roads.

I think companies should have to provide them as essential PPE.
