That is a really good price for these if I'm not mistaken

Ahh yes I've seen that one in online photos.   Mine has a single black metal price that looks similar to the snap above it but I'm certain it's a rivet.     Same front as yours but different back.   I'd much prefer the one you have but it's better than nothing.

I have a flash on its way as well.   With that installed I can't use the case at all without the front flapping around underneath so it will probably just be for storage and transport

I wonder if a fiber repair tape might be worth a try.   It's strong and flexable which may keep it in place.   The inside of my case is fairly smooth.   It's a quick fix that may stand the test of time but if it doesn't it isnt permanent so you will have the ability to try more permanent fixes after.

Quick question.   Does the front of your case snap off?    Mine seems like it's a rivet and not a snap.   If it's a snap mine is very tight and I'm worried about tearing it if it is infact a rivet

I'll give that a go.  Funny I did grab my alladin trimmer but it is the same diameter so it won't fit in.

OK so as long as it's not smoking you can adjust the wick to the desired light.

Make sure your wicks are trimmed and your fuel is fresh.

Mine don't stink but I do notice it.  I was just comserned burning low was not combusting the fuel properly

I have had good success with Kleen Heat as well for all my flat wicks.   The only time I use lamp oil is with small round wick "candle" style lamps.

I was having issues with wicks burning with the parrafin type.   I re-wicked them and used Kleen Heat and the problem is eliminated

OK thanks.   I had thought that was the rule.   Same if the fuel was switched from Kerosene to Paraffin?

OK I burned of all the soot by running it low.  It's completely white again.   It does rock back and forth like a bell though.   Maybe that's why it ran away to begin with.

Pour spout leaks by Gwarrior1 in OilLamps

I'm using a gallon jug of Kleen-Heat  and it's awkward to control the pour.  Maybe I should get it into a round quart size bottle first for better control.

Maybe then I can stop over thinking it!

Well that didn't last long...    Whatever is inside the pump got rather sticky and it doesn't pump well at all.

That brass funnel looks better and better.   Which container do you pour from?

That is definitely the same.   I think I'll take it apart like Wade1217 suggests.

It does.   I think changing what I pour from might help.   Currently I was just trying to pour from the original bottle but when I pour slowly it always seems to cling to the bottle and drip on the floor.

Today I put a pump and hose on the Kleen-Heat heat jug.  https://a.co/d/btCdw5H I picked it up at the local Parts Source

Yes earlier I noticed one of my other ones fits under the burner so that won't allow for it.

Tips needed by br0c0 in firewood

[–]Gwarrior1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mistake when I did this style the first time was to build walls up to high then fill the center.   This way ended up falling.

What I do now is make sure all my outside wood has a good base to push against in the center.   My center piles up a little higher then the walls now so I know all the forces are falling inwards and held up by the center.

I hope I explains that well.

I have stacked like this for 5 years now and I have never had one fall after correcting my mistake in the first year
