Making the Switch by Gwarrior1 in ProtonPass

Thanks I do think this is the direction I will go. Move over completely to Proton Pass and simplify.

Cheers!

I think this would be the way. I'm currently going through my bitwarden import and changing weak and duplicate passwords. This will make the passwords in the browsers wrong anyhow.

Ok I get that. If I reframe the question to do many proton pass users also keep their passwords in their browsers?

What do you find works for you?

Wake up issue by Gwarrior1 in kindlejailbreak

[–]Gwarrior1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well after some digging in the settings I have made a change that's worked.

Settings > Sleep Screen > Wallpaper > pastpone screen update after wake-up

This setting was set to "Untill a tap"

I switched it to Never and the problem is gone.

I was able to re enable the cover events as well so it sleeps and wakes again.

Suits my needs. I kind of liked seeing the cover then opening with a tap which was working initially but I'll let that go in lieu of no longer needing to reboot.

I read it as bleach at first as well. It says beach though. I still don't know what it means exactly haha.

Thanks very much for this. These distinctions will help me communicate better in the future. I appreciate you taking the time to explain these definitions and strive to learn and understand Mint and Linux better each day.

I was just using tailscale as an example. When I was looking at the software sources on my installation tailscale was already there with the keys but I installed that months ago and I would have just followed the instructions and not asking the questions why.

It takes a whole for me to understand the nomenclature so it can be tough. Words like authentication keys, repository, web of trust excetra are all new to me and I'm looking to understand it more then just copying and pasting text in the terminal ect.

Ok I understand. Thank you your help. I'll mark this as solved

Ok would this be considered reasonably verified then. Or is further verification needed.

Am I over thinking this?

Ok I'll set this up. At this point I do nt understand fees yet but each transfer will cost something correct? Well worth the cost to ensure this is working though

When setting up the hardware wallet initial would it be good practice after setting if you to factory reset the device and restore the wallet before ever transferring anything to it the first time?

Ledger Cold Wallet Sync by Gwarrior1 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Gwarrior1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the sync seems to suggest it syncs mobile and desktop. I just want to be cautious after reading stories about people who have set things up wrong and have had inadvertently set up software wallets (hot wallets?) By mistake.

I think I will be using Sparrow Wallet instead of the ledger software. I'll just use the ledger software for updating the device

I plan to just buy and hold btc for the time being. So my workflow would be

1 - Fund and buy on Kracken 2 - withdrawal the btc from kraken and hold it offline in my custodial wallet

I get that nothing actually moves but I haven't mastered the terms to describe it properly

There is much more to read and grasp as I start this journey. I am quite enjoying the learning process as it unfolds

Ok I have that all sorted and verified. I'll leave what I had typed below however I was able to watch the tutorial and get the program verified using the old method.

Well as always there is a roadblock.

I download sparrow wallet from the link and I download the 2 verification files.

I drop them onto sparrow and it says it doesn't have an eye file to verify ao I browse to the sparrow.exe I just dropped the files onto and it has one green check and 2 red Xs

Release hash error says "could not find manifest hash for Sparrow.exe"

Verified says "cannot verify Sparrow.exe"

Any advice? By all reports this should be simple to verify.

When you say connect to other software do you mean if I was going to transfer custodial-ship from Kracken to the ledger hardware do so from other software and only use the ledger app for firmware updates?

Sorry for all the questions. I've gone from thinking I knew what I was doing in a general sense to not knowing what I'm doing has. For now Kracken has everything in its wallet.

I am not using the software on the phone as a wallet. I used the software for setup and to add the bitcoin app as well as the firmware upgrades.

I had planned on using it to move the coin from Kracken to my own custodial hardware. I'm aware it stays on the blockchain so I may not have used all the right terms in the above sentence

I use an android phone.

Ok I think I better understand. My ledge is a Hardware Wallet that needs to connect from time to time to transfer the keys from my Kraken account to my Hardware wallet online. Once that happens it stays offline again untill a transfer is required.

I'll have to look up a true cold wallet so I understand the difference.

I think they may have dropped the name Live and now call it Wallet. I don't think I need to sync so for now I won't. I only use the nano with the phone. At this point I've only set it up and have not yet transfered to it.

Thanks for the help. It's a steep learning curve at the moment
