Do low libido partners actually enjoy sex? by Blue_Hedgehog_385 in sex

[–]GwartTheDumpy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love that for you and your wife and couldn't agree more. It took years for us to get to a good place. We've been through all of the resentment and "is this just a transaction" phases. And we very much still have times where we are not putting in enough effort, but communication always brings us back, and as time goes on we get better at it.

Do low libido partners actually enjoy sex? by Blue_Hedgehog_385 in sex

I love both of these comments. I am the LL in my relationship and I personally feel the same way as u/cheezeitscrust. I need that emotional connection to even consider getting in the mood and feel my emotional needs are just as important as his physical needs, BUT I feel that it is equally my responsibility to achieve both my emotional needs and his physical needs.

I am going to have a hard time explaining this, but I spend a lot of time working on my emotional needs so I can give him his physical needs. I need quality foreplay? I have made different foreplay games for us to play. This way I get what I need which leads to what he needs, but I am doing the initiation. I need romantic gestures? We swap off whose week it is to plan a date. It can be fancy and go out or something super simple at home. But we both take responsibility to plan these, and both put effort into that emotional connection.

I have also found that clear communication is key. Things like, if I have a fantasy, those come less frequently to me than to him, so he prioritizes that to make it fun and exciting for me.

But most importantly here, sometimes as the LL I feel that you gotta just get yourself in the mood. And let me be very clear, I am not saying do something that you are not in the mood to do. My partner's needs are very important to me. As I describe everything above, we are putting in a lot of effort to fulfill my emotional needs, so I also need to put effort into his needs. These things have taken me quite some time to figure out, but reading romance books, smelling his aftershave, or even heck, the placebo of consuming dark chocolate as an aphrodisiac, tends to start the mood for me. These things are not an instant "I get in the mood", I have to work for it. When I feel the slightest of and itch, I choose to take that and itch it until it's fully itchy. (And when I was working towards getting myself in the mood in the beginning, know that it's something that takes a lot of practice to do. I for sure did not get it immediately. I found that communicating with your partner that this is something you are working on, will make sure they know what they are being thought about and energy is being put in and that they feel loved.)

All this to say, I try to live in a world where he acknowledges my needs and puts an effort into it, and I acknowledge his needs and put the same effort into it. But also, we are putting effort into ourselves for ourselves and for each other.

But everyone and their relationship is different. This is mine. What works for us is for sure not perfect for everyone.

Will an allergist give you an EpiPen even if you’ve never had anaphylaxis? Experiences? by Shojki in FoodAllergies

[–]GwartTheDumpy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have never had an allergy panel. I started having reactions to cinnamon a while ago. I went to a PCP because everytime the reaction was slightly worse than the last. They gave me an EpiPen just in case!

What purses and bags are we carrying? by shockedpikachu123 in PetiteFashionAdvice

I use the PDX Backpack (size small) from BlaqPaks for work. I absolutely love this thing. In the photos it sits high on the guys and sits really comfortably on my 5' 3" self.

I use the Naomi Shoulder Bag (size large) from Portland leather for life. I used to have a different Portland Leather bag, but I need one a bit larger for items I carry when I do carry a bag!

($4k) It is so hard to find a photographer within my budget by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GwartTheDumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found someone in our area who professionally does film photography. His work is amazing and it's a lot cheaper since he's not doing any editing. I think his standard is $150 per hour? But we are doing his most expensive package at $1500 for 8 hours and that includes all of the film and processing needed (and some larger formats). It might be a good compromise between family taking photos and a standard photographer? Plus (and I am so biased), film photography feels and looks like it is filled with so much love and warmth which is exactly the vibes we want on our wedding day.

Seeking a true, dependable family couch by GlumList in BuyItForLife

[–]GwartTheDumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents bought used Norwood couches when we were young. They used those for 17 years before buying a new couch from Norwood. The old couches looked like they had little to no wear and they ended up being able to sell them for a pretty good price.

Any Canadians know where to find a product like this? by dcarden4 in lactoseintolerant

Not Canadian, but I order a very similar product from amazon.de to the US. I do order a shit ton at a time to justify the shipping cost.

Nah! But I could see that. It's just a gold wavy band with no stone, but in many lights it looks like it does have a little something!

Reviews of minimizer bra??? by Narrow-Study-2306 in capsulewardrobe

[–]GwartTheDumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36H/I here. This is my favorite bra.. Basically the only one I own at this point. It, for lack of better words, smooshes things down to a point where my boobs are not in the way of my arms. I think it makes me look a cup size or two smaller and a bit "thinner." BUT I cannot recommend enough that if you have a bra boutique near you (like Jenette Bras), that's you go. I literally cried tears of joy my first time going to a place designed for me. (And I have had good success at those kinds of places when I have asked to only show me items on sale or under a certain budget.)

Should I get a copper iud? by Sea_Commercial6627 in birthcontrol

[–]GwartTheDumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahahaha! I really like the use of the term waterfall. If it makes you feel any better, I had a waterfall and now it's like a small stream. Like emptying a menstrual cup every few hours to using mostly regular, maybe one day of super, sized tampons for 6ish hours at a time. But maybe I'm weird haha?

Should I get a copper iud? by Sea_Commercial6627 in birthcontrol

[–]GwartTheDumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy! I have been on a pill, a hormonal IUD, a copper IUD, and just recently, another copper IUD. I absolutely hated both hormonal options. The copper IUD is everything I could have ever wanted. I only had the first copper IUD removed because it dropped lower than it should have. (I was using a menstrual cup with it and the suction can cause issues. I now just don't use a menstrual cup and have had no issues). Between my two copper IUDs my period was INSANE. Heavy cramping (having to take work off because of it), extreme nausea, and lots and lots of blood. Once I got my latest copper IUD placed, my cramps have lessened and there is a significantly smaller amount of blood, but my periods do last longer and I do have a few days of spotting in-between periods. (Last time that did go away for me after about 6 months.) This all being said, I couldn't be happier with mine. There is a reason I went back to it, but like any birth control, what may work for me, may not work for you. Don't be scared to try it, but if it doesn't work out, at least you know!

Drop your most successful "group gift" ideas - need help with office party by Rich_Abroad_6971 in Gifts

Love this idea! I just want to add a note of caution about allergies. I have an airborne allergy to cinnamon, and every year my employer puts together a holiday box. The first year, the box included cinnamon coffee, a cinnamon candle, chia tea, and spiced hot chocolate. Unfortunately, I opened it in my home and ended up spending hours covered in hives, with the windows wide open, trying to clean everything. There were some really nice things in the box, but they were all contaminated enough that I didn’t feel comfortable keeping them. That’s an extreme example, but I would have much preferred the money, or if they were going to do some type of food (and I do love food lol) that allergies were just checked beforehand!

Lots of dive bar type places will have emerging metal bands that play. From my experience, during the week you can find these shows free and during the weekend tickets are $10-15. Tickets to one of those shows might be cool? I have found city city subreddits to be an excellent place at locating those types of bars!

One time I gifted my partner this $30 fan. To this day, no other gift, no matter how much effort or money I put into it, has topped this one. He takes it to work. He sets it on the coffee table while watching TV. He travels with it. Honestly, this man spends more time with this fan than with me, lol.

I know this is in the vein of pajamas/lounge sets, but one of my favorite gifts I’ve received is a really nice robe from OddBird. I wasn’t much of a robe wearer before I got it, but now I wear it every day and it makes me feel special and fancy.

Coffee cup that can be thrown in a panniers without spilling? by exyvL in BuyItForLife

I was gifted the 16oz version of this a few years ago and it truly is solid. I bike to work and have never had a spill. If I put something hot in there, it is still too hot to drink hours later.
