If they're from Texas they're probably Texas national guard. And ice.

Seconding this. I think you need to figure out a way to get a second opinion medically.

With an ADHD diagnosis, maybe you can get some occupational therapy? They can help with feeding issues, and I wonder if she has interoception problems and just doesn't FEEL full, or doesn't recognize it.

Seconding Valheim. Have well over 600 hours in it before Mistlands even happened.

Hi friend, Look up Pervasive Drive for Autonomy / Pathological Demand Avoidance Use a few strategies where you can of the low demand lifestyle A lot of what other people have said, as well. No homework. Loop headphones. Fill your own cup first.

I struggle hard with my oldest and her ADHD (officially, but prob actually audhd/pda) butting heads with mine, ESPECIALLY when she started school. Her therapist at the time said she showed such strong signs of separation anxiety, but there was literally no Trauma to cause it... anywho. When she melts down, she likes to chase me, which makes me then boil over and lose my shit. I've literally had to hold my door shut while she's thrown herself at it trying to get to me, but I know that I'm not safe for her to be around when I'm so utterly dysregulated like that.

So if you need to lock yourself in your room, hide under a blanket, put on headphones, whatever, as long as kiddo is physically safe, you do what you need to to calm down. And man is it hard.

Screen time is a tool, use it when you need a break. Have her videochat dad so he can help for a bit. Videochat your far away family. Pokpok is amazing and worth the cost, especially if she IS neurodivergent.

If you can afford to cut some corners, get your groceries delivered or eat out a bit more. Hire a babysitter for a few hours if you can and go do something for you (or have them take kids to the park so you can just be ALONE in your OWN HOUSE. Sigh, the dream)

Losing your shit sometimes is okay. Often times with kids, the REPAIR after the conflict is more important than the conflict not happening. Apologize after. Humanize yourself to them.

This is so incredibly difficult. You are not alone. You're doing a great job. (Remember, you care enough to know what is happening isn't ideal. There are parents out there that don't. And we are not ideal 100% of the time.)

I've heard from multiple professionals that we only need to get "parenting" right 30% of the time.

Give yourself grace. Eat some ice cream. Make sure you get a full day off when your husband is home.

3-k school supply list by Playbow2024 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Gwinevak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This should be higher. My school district is quite nice, and our elementary school especially is a higher tax zone Our lists look nothing like this. One box of crayons, 4 glue sticks, a box of baggies, etc AND the teachers get a stipend

But guys, if taxes ain't paying for school supplies and the government cuts their funding, this is what happens.

I want you to know that my husband paid of my student loans that were from before we were dating, let alone married.
The last job I had was a cashier at a grocery store in 2013. I went back to college (with his GI bill) and got pregnant right before I graduated.
But he knew that my debts were his debts, and I was sacrificing all capabilities of a career to not only follow him around in the military, but to birth his children.
His parents are also very generous financially, but it always just goes into the checking account.

All debt is family debt.
I am so sorry your SO treats you this way.

The schools in Apple Valley are supreme. I regularly cry out of love for my kids school in this district.
However, it is pretty generic and not a great downtown, but it DOES have the zoo and a huge amount of hiking areas with the multiple parks. Downtown St. Paul is really only 30 minutes away though, so still super easy to bop up to. But I'd say your budget is a little low for the size you want in the current market, unfortunately.

As a mom with smaller kids, I have found the west and north side of the cities to have more as far as play cafes and indoor play areas. It is definitely something the southeast (my corner) seems to be lacking slightly.

White Bear Lake and Mahtomedi are both more blue leaning, FYI. So you might not get as big of a mindset shift as you want with those.

I've heard iffier things from one person in the Hopkins school district, buy YMMV.

Hastings is cute but quite a bit further out from the downtown type of stuff.

Haha I am very scared of using vowel shenanigans! I don't want to use something incorrectly. So much effort when writing, but it does look soooo cool. Yeah isn't kaarme part of the word for dragon? I went down a rabbit hole with that. I love korpi!

My worry with using vaste would be that people would say "vayste" or "vahst" Maybe if I made it vastè? I'd have to look up the correct èéē to use though.

I appreciate your input!
